so my question is: I'm running 195/75/14's now,how much of a bigger "footprint" will I get with the 205/70/15 Nokian WRC's? will the Nokian's be taller, wider?

I like using the Miata tire calculator. Just plug in your numbers and it will aslo give you a visual representation.

I went with the Nokian WRC Van, 205/65/15 on a Mercedes wheel, I love the tires, and that size is really close to what stock total wheel/tire diameter would be, speedo when checked with a GPS is right on. Excellent tire, no regrets, very quiet, great handling, all around the best tire I have used so far for my van.

I've been driving on Michelin Agilis 205/65R15 on my 2WD 87 Westy for the last four years and have been pretty happy with them. My only complaint is they are fairly hard rubber. I just put GW 1.5 Lift Springs on and its time to get new tires. Thinking of going with the Nokian 205/70/15C Hakka C.

Wondering if going from a size 205/65 to a 205/70 will cost me in highway speed. Van Cafe says it will drop you rpm a tiny amount. How much is a tiny amount?

~ 3% - example ... if you are at 3500 rpm in 4th @ 60 mph with 65s ... you will drop to just under 3400. Conversely, if you maintained your 3500 rpm in above example, you will now be traveling @ ~62 mph.

I have the 205/70/15s and love them ... mine are the WR C van ... came size / guts w different tread (all weather). Van Cafe carries them ... not sure if in stock right now but hey ... your nearby.

The math is pretty straightforward:

Tire width (mm) / 25.4 (mm/inch) * aspect ratio (%) * 2 + wheel diameter (inch) = nominal tire diameter (inch).

For example 205/65-15

205/25.4 * .65 * 2 + 15 = 25.5 inches

and 205/70-15

205/25.4 * .70 * 2 + 15 = 26.3 inches

Your rpm at a given speed will change by (25.5 - 26.3)/25.5 * 100 = - 3.1%

(Edit: I'm a slow typist.)
