Still is "minimal rust" status...the little bit of rust is just a little closer to the ground _________________ My 63 build thread - http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=520975&highlight= |

This is the thread I read before deciding to buy it: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2930438
You'll find that the philosophies are split as to whether they work or not. After all consideration was over, I decided that it was some cheap insurance in case the supporters were right, i've never had trouble with it.

Getting ready to start a long overdue tranny swap. When I picked up the 63 I was told that the transmission would soon have to be replaced...well, the bearings did whine a bit, but now I've been driving it for five years and I think the bearings are just about giving out. I picked up (freebie!) this 62 transaxle complete, although the axles are off right now, from the neighbor a year or so ago. I was told it was rebuilt and that the best way to test if it's rebuilt without taking it apart is to just finish up the assembly and put it in the car to see if she goes so this is what I'm gonna do.

I have found that a little Marvel Mystery Oil squeezed into a full tank of fuel does wonders.
I have enjoyed this car's progression, as I have a '63 Deluxe, and I got many good ideas and tips from this thread. |
