You may be a surgeon, but you're also an artist! Beautiful work. I used to have a '74 2.0 and I sure miss that car. I never should have sold it, but it the car and I were both broke, and I was in college, so... Crying or Very sad

I can't wait to see how this 914 turns out!

Very very nice. You bled everything in so seamlessly! I am sure that takes a lot of time. Props for your patience!

Wow, just absolutely amazing work!
Perfect metal work like this is almost becoming a lost art these days when most just fill with bondo.
I'd love to learn more but no one teaches this type of work over here so I have to teach myself, with the arch flares you use a mig to tack them on? then use a tig for the rest? with or without filler rod?

thank you! and thanks for taking the time to read the thread.your right i tack with mig, then tig weld with filler rod.remember to leave 0.5mm gap in the butt weld joint.weld 1 inch then cool ,then move to welding another area.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge, will try that method now I have a better understanding.
When you cool the metal you let it cool naturally or with air? water?
I assume once welded you just metal finish the same way as when you do a dent repair, dolly / slapper etc?

fender made from scratch

How do you finish up the weld seams? Do you grind the seam clean and use welding/brazing as a means of filler?

I'm going to look around your website some more. Do you have any videos showing how to use a slapper and file?

Nice work, I am doing my 79 SB Conv right now, but am thinking of building a 914 Track car next, for High Plains raceway. I will keep an eye on your project and maybe this spring we can get together. I'd love to pick your brain. KYLE
