Why only 24 deg of advance?? Set it at 30deg @ 3krpm, don't worry about what the timing is at idle. No reason to be bending tabs to limit it unless you're cramming air forcibly down it's throat. I'm assuming you're running a 009 dist.?? _________________ '67 Sunroof

But you came here to ask as well. That is my suggestion...... Ask him his reason why. OR..........you can try both and see what you like best. _________________ '67 Sunroof

Your buddy is wrong, 009s should be 28-32* BTDC @ 3500rpm. _________________ Glenn

Turbo is different.
Get a CB digital distributor and map the ignition.
Bend the tabs at the top and bottom of this picture. That will limit the total movement.

If you're going to run a turbo and lock the timing, you're going to miss a lot on the street. You'll miss considerable off boost timing which a lot of your street driving will probably live off boost, until you nail it and hold it open as you build boost. I did this myself, and the timing was missed. I went with the CB Digital dist and programmed it properly. There are several good ways to do this, but locking it out isn't ideal for something other than a drag car IMO. To each his own. _________________ '67 Sunroof

Best money you could spend is on a good ignition setup.
There is nothing cheap about setting up a turbo engine. If you go cheap ignition you'll have a bunch of piston pieces laying in the bottom of your case.
Take the time to do it right and learn form others.
If you don't want to get serious and buy a decent ignition then at least limit the boost to 6 lbs. or less.
Good luck with your build and post lot s of pics.....we always love pictures of homemade turbo setups. _________________
