PostPosted: Fri Aug 29, 2014 6:46 am    Post subject: Race bus & car hauler Reply with quote

I built these a while back. I made the custom chassis to fit the Team BlueGroove bus body. The suspension pieces are either 3racing or Yeah racing parts for the Tamiya M-05 chassis. I machined all the aluminum pieces. The front Fuchs were narrowed and the rear widened.
The bus was built to go with the Unimog car hauler.

Nice job, is that a HPI body?
I milled the chassis & suspension mounts to get the chassis as narrow as possible to fit the body over the tires with no rubbing.

Yes, is it a HPI bus body on the M-03?
I looked into getting a used M chassis, but after measuring the rear tires the M chassis was too wide.
The receiver is in the front, the esc is in the back, and the battery sits lengthwise. The diff & pinion gears are from the M-05 diff. , and a Integy 85T crawler motor. The front Fuchs are cut back on the inside, Sand Scorcher tires, the rear Fuchs are widened by making an aluminum inner wheel half. I bought the rear tires on ebay, not sure of the brand.

Scored this little guy recently. It's a vintage Ttumbler" by ABC Hobby. The only one I've ever seen outside of vintage print. The body looks like crap, but I think I can save it and repaint it. Trying to find replacement tires is turning out to be a pain...
