new built electric version is box stock except for the body mounts. I fab'd some new lower ones to get the body down. From the factory they sit way too high...

while I'm posting pics, I'll share this rare one I scored recently from the UK.
It's an MRC Bullit. The same car was also sold by PB Racing. Not many of these in the US.

Also came with an NOS body that I'll use after the resto.

Woah, $53 is an absolute steal. For anything really, let alone the Kyosho Volkswagen Baja Bug. Pity you missed out!

The price for mine is a little higher I'm sorry to say Shocked
In my defence, I myself paid $1100 for my new in box one.

I usually put my for sale items here, with links to the ebay auction, so you can see the one I am selling. It is 'near new'...
http://rctoymemories.com/items-for-sale/

A few months ago, I sold another one - in parts. It had box, a body, two chassis, and multiple tyres. All of it was heavily used though. It sold for $260 (you can probably still see a pic of that bug also, under past sales).

If the Kyosho Volkswagen Baja Bug seems dear, then Kyosho's other vintage VW buggy - the Kyosho Beetle Off Road Racer - is even dearer. If you can ever find a new kit of that, expect to pay over $2000. Worth more than the Tamiya Sand Scorcher these days..

I don't collect the gas-powered ones, but even so that one is new to me...

That was still a deal on that Kyosho Baja! looks like everything minus the body. finding the body would be tough, but not impossible.

TL- King has been around for a long time! I bought some stuff there as a kid. Glad to hear that place is still going strong. Never been to the Rockingham shop though!

I've got some down time, so I'm going to snap some pics of some "toy grade" r/c stuff and post up in a few...

toy grade stuff-
I'll post some harder to find cars, and not bomb the thread with common Jada/Herbie/Maisto stuff that everyone has.

Cool little Dickie Baja. function is simple though- forward or turn in reverse

Taiyo VW Golf

Here's a "sonic control" Golf. The "remote" makes a loud metallic clicking sound when the trigger is pulled, which the car hears and tells it to turn. No batteries in the remote, just a loud clicker. Kind of a strange old car.

tidy packaging

The old Radio Shack Turbo Beetle. Fairly common. This one is used, but complete with box and paperwork. I believe this was also sold overseas under the Taiyo brand name.

Corgi "School of Motoring" Golf. This is one of my favs. Took a while to find one for sale that someone was willing to ship overseas to me.

Taiyo Radi Can Bus. probably more common across the pond, but again it took me a while to get one here to the US.

There's a lot of these out there, but I'll post it up too. Pretty common, but a neat little Zip Zaps car.

cool cool. post some pics and I'll help you figure out what you've got exactly. I'm big into "SRB" cars and their vintage hop up parts.

Thanks for sharing those Smile Great to see some more unusual toy grade R/C models. Toy grade cars are sometimes even more interesting.
Here's another I had written about:
http://rctoymemories.com/2012/04/17/tandy-radio-shack-funny-beetle/

There are more to come, it's just hard to find the time! Sad

Oh, just a small correction too - this model was not made by Taiyo. The maker is Atcomi, and yes it was also sold under the Atcomi brand in some countries.

As always, due to Tandy / Radio Shack's much wider distribution, that version (as pictured above) is both better remembered and easier to find. Although finding one in good condition is quite difficult. It took me several years to find a NIB example. (Everything I know about the model can be found here)
