Looking for a new engine and advice for a 70 Ghia

Want to obtain 100-130 HP, car is a daily driver, currently have a 1600 single port. I was looking at a 1776cc and a 1914cc

Any Suggestions? or who to contact?

Thanks,

Well, depends. There could be some local shops to you that build engines. You should tell us where you live and you would be suprised by how many people here know of reputable shops all over the place. Also cost could be a concern. Check the VW mags; lots of advertisers in there (but would check here first before purchasing from any of them). My final comment is on the engine size. I have heard that an 1835 is preferable because the boring process making the engine have larger displacement is better on an 1835 (retains more thickness from the original case). Not sure about that though...anyone else have advise on that subject?
