Nope, not going to make it I'm afraid, I really haven't been interested in going to German meets ever since Willi Lottermann died, quite a few of my VW friends in Germany are gone, passed away and I don't really know anyone in the new scene over there.
To me honestly Germany and the vintage scene there is not as inviting as it was in the 1980's and 90's.....
Have a good time there!

Hi All,
found a truly amazing standard that is up for sale in germany.
this is my car's twin
look at the super condition this car is, the only thing i noticed that has been restored is the spare tire well section, older v bracket decklid and the rear flank (bolt is gone for rearfenders)
i believe/hope that behind the door panels is the original herringbone too
besides this the car has a realy cool history!!
this is the email from the guy who is selling this car: [email protected]
best regards |

WoW!
This car from Markus is nutz!!!!! I just can't understand why people SELL cars like this, when they are so amazing?
I haven't seen a Standard that complete since the early 1990's.
I wouldn't touch a thing on that car over than normal maintenance to keep the car roadworthy....the "patina" is to die for!!!!

Hi All!
Front clip and spare tire well has been restored, don't look at the paint etc the whole car is going to the sandblaster after all is done.
We found original 56-57 fenders with the dots in the headlight bucket, they need TLC and they will get it
we also restored the front hood this month
We went to hessisch oldendorf previous weekend and it was insane, we found a few standard parts, the one i'm realy proud of is the nos door handle with 2 matching huf sg coded keys
enjoy |

Hi all,
we love metal work and we couldn't get the original decklid be left alone.
so we decided to bring her back to life. the underside of the decklid was destroyed by some idiot back in time.

Hi all,
decklid and front hood are in primer now. the next step will be wet sanding it until p1400, and then we consider it paint ready
we also take care of the gas tank, it was so dirty inside that we have to clean it the rough way without damaging the tank ofcourse, we get ourself a concrete mill and we fixed the gastank to the mill put some cleaned gravel, screws etc inside with a lot of aceton and we let it turn for a couple of hours, we couldn't believe what a mess it was inside when we drained it all.
after this i called a company vosschemie who claimed that his g4 PU primer would seal/rust prevent the tank forever and also it is gasoline proofed, so we choose this product to go for
PU-primer in action after a day... let's test it with pouring a litlle gasoline over it and let's see
enjoy! |

our gastank is paint ready and we are really proud of it
my dad wet sanded the primer from 800 untill 1200 and it's like a mirror already, can't wait to see our tank in the L29 blue grey color.
getting some gas at the station will be a huge pleasure from now on
the decklid, the nose from the decklid and the front hood is also ready for wet sanding
best regards |

Hi All,
gastank is off to a garage for getting it paint in the L29 color, can't wait to see the result
as far as we don't want a radio in the dashboard we found our self two picnic radios from the sixties
both are in good working condition, however the schaub lorenz T50's sound is very quiet (sound is almost not noticeable) and doesn't seems to pick up a channel on KW
the blaupunkt derby works, good loud sound, but doesn't receive anything on the FM wavelength
can someone help me with the problems from the two kofferradios?
here are some pics
look at the date written for garanty
best regards

damned!!!! just that we thought the whole body was rock hard again we found some nasty rust behind the rear body supports
be aware that good looking body supports can hide some crusty metal behind them!
we spotted off the supports from the inner fender, this took us a day for getting them both off, they are spots everywhere on this place
rust spotted
well hidden rust
we going to clean the original support, and they going back on the car with the same spots
yesterday they were killing us and now they are smiling at us
My father still smiling at the rust after 12 hours spotting and cutting
enjoy! |

a few days passed, a few things done
rusted metal cutted away without damaging the luggage tray
nice to see the luggage tray is in very good condition
problem rised how to make the cut away panel? solution... 10mm metal plate with the correct cutted curve and a oxy acetylene torch....
patch panel ready to weld, we also added the original spot weld on this panel to weld the luggage tray back to the patch panel
close fit right?
clips getting there attention too
removing rust from a standard seat
final result...... (the other side is also done with the same TLC)
have a nice weekend all!!!! |
