The next two pics show how I will be doing the join. The box sections being cut back to where they are square again.

I'll need as much detail as you can share. As this vert started life as a LHD car it has no semaphore pockets at all. So I'll need to fabricate a set up from scratch!
Whatever pictures, measurements and suggestions you have it would be appreciated. I want them to look OG as best I can.
Thanks again

I think that the reproduction of this part is not complex. A simple iron U and soyer the sheet steel. When you will cut the sheet steel of rear panel section it is necessary cut longer and to pull down(to reduce) the sheet steel in 90 ° on 3 sides and to add the iron U. is not very clear the photo for explain.
Most great difficulty will be to find semaphore of specific convertible because longer and finer and expensive. |

Here are some pics of some pockets I picked up a few years ago off an Atlas blue 58 vert, hope they help.
Pocket location:
from body line to top of hole = 46.25mm
from B pillar edge to side of hole = 16mm
Overall length of hole = 176.50mm
Width of hole = 18mm |
Thanks for the great photos! I'd love to get my hands on an OG set like those! _________________ I hate rust!

Agree. I got a price for an OG set and was luck to survive the heart attack!
Plan is to get some repro lenses and try and convert a set of sedan semaphore. If anyone has a how to on that it would be appreciated.

If possible, do you have these dimensions?
I'm guessing the inner is spot welded to the inward folded sections of the outer panel?

Here you go
Yes just spot welded on the lip.
Jason from the Resurrection Project in Sacramento made some vert semaphores for Yustrin's RHD conversion vert, maybe he could help. _________________ Grapes of Wrath $200 Engine Rebuild

Thanks so much for the dimension. Definately will help! I love the work that TheRessurectionProject does and follow him on Facebook. I will send him a PM and see if he will share some more of his secrets.
Thanks again

Some more work on the vert in between real work, one year old children and easter festivities.
Prepared the sides for the grafting.

Even though the clip is nice and straight the spare wheel well bottom had suffered from a few scrapes and bangs.
Time to practice some metal bumping. Actually turned out ok. Needs a crack welded up but will look the goods!

For the front apron the original plan was to graft in the 4 finger section into a repro apron like Jason did.
Some time ago I picked up a repro apron. I checked the general fit and shape and immediately thought, s&*t! It was a heap of crap. The general pressings was poor, the shape was wrong and it just did not fit up at all to the clip.
So what to do?? _________________ I hate rust!

I cut the original apron off what was left of the clip to have a look at how bad it really was. The PO had bolted doublers on the back, cake'd on a bucket load of filler on the front, and the underside was nearly beated back on itself.

Out with the wire wheel and the bog was off in a matter of minutes. This is what I was left looking at!

I thought I would spend some time to see if this could end up being useable. Nothing to loose
Started to work the bottom lip back to something that resembled how it left the factory. Also started to remove the remaining attached metal.
Getting the bottom lip correct is going to be a challenge. Fixing the torn bumper openings should be fairly straight forward. But if that bottom roll is wrong the whole front of the vert is just going to suck! _________________ I hate rust!

After looking at the apron some more this morning. I really think this isn't saveable. Just check out how bent and twisted it is compared to the repro panel.

People may remember the blue 58 which has so far donated its RHD dash, rear apron, cross members and random sheet metal. Since parking a sad 54 oval in the shed I had ear marked the front apron from the 58 for the oval.
Well, the oval may have to find another. Spent a couple of hours yesterday afternoon removing the 4 finger apron and a bit of panel beating.

Compared to the original front apron his is in mint condition
Well not really. Some rust in the bottom and a few holes in one side but the damamge to the lower lip is nothing compared to the green one.
