Has anyone ever done/seen/heard of someone modifying a Type3 for a TDi conversion? Pics? I'm thinking that would be the ultimate VW. Light, diesel and rear engine and RWD |

Almost any swap is possible as you probably know. It just comes down to money and time and skill. Get out the measuring tape and find out if it will fit the engine bay. Kennedy engineering probably makes an adapter to mate trans to engine. Then you would need a complete donor car to swap all the electronics from. A tdi can be made to run non electronic, but would no longer be a tdi. In my experience with swaps what ever you think it will cost, double it and you will be close. It's usually cheaper to buy a late model running driving car than to swap an engine. My 1990 corrado 1.8t swap ended up costing close to 10k with standalone engine management. Once you get the engine you can't turn back. A major milestone is getting the engine bolted in the car and start from there, good luck!! Check out Smyth performance's TDI kit car it's neat. https://www.facebook.com/SmythPerformance |
