PostPosted: Thu Jun 13, 2013 4:51 am    Post subject: Brake lines and master cylinder Reply with quote

Working on the brake lines the the moment. Picked all new metal lines made to length off my old ones and also new flexible lines, so going to get these bent to shape and installed soon.

Dug out the original type 3 dual master cylinder, will need a little restro job done on it - think I will take it into the local brake specialist for re sleaving and all the rubber parts to be replaced.

Little bit if fun time in the garage tonight-

Had these new metal lines, made up off measurements i took off the old ones, (some of them were a little long as a measured with a little extra but all worked out ok) and flexible lines

Rear lines install, original 'T' junction cleaned up ok.

Front lines installed, master cylinder still needs to be reconditioned, just being used to mock up lines. After standing back and reviewing I have realised that the two right hand lines need to be re shaped and swapped over so that both the front lines are coming off the same circuit. I hate it when that happens, all part of learning I suppose. Should look a little neater as well, as I was wondering why, one line seems too long and the other too short.

Oh and another couple of pictures just because.

Pedal assembly in.

Nice job.

I am curious which supplier you got the 4 stud cosmic wheels from? It seems most suppliers only have the 5 stud (Porsche) pattern.

Looks good, and the colors compliment each other. Cool I'm just not sold on the louvers in the front fenders though.

It's really interesting looking at how OZ did their cars, versus how Germany did theirs. On USA spec 69's, we would get IRS, but ya'll still got the swing axle, which was discontinued after 69 for the USA. But then, after looking at Bert's car, you can see differences that the "home market" got, versus the export models. These kind of builds really cause 1 to pause and study. Great job. Cool

The notch is of Oz origin and was imported into nz in 1976, it is registered as a 69, but chassis number indicates 68.

It has the 4 stud wheels, 12volt and disc brakes up front, but yes it still has swing axle rear and the early bumper, older 'bullet' shaped front indicators and it had the fuel filler as the very early edition with no interior release, manually opened with a finger pull. But this has now been been converted back to early under the bonnet style.

All these odd items make it tricky when ordering parts, but one just has to take ones time.

That paint finish looks exceptional, really flat (no peel) off the gun.

Curious what tyre sizes you are running there??
