Drove my Westerner today!

I got the Vanagon motor installed and started up last night. I think it needs a little more work to really be driveable but this was a pretty good start!

I just ordered a set of new tires to throw on it, the'll be in tomorrow.

Super....Soon there will be another Wild Westerner brought back to life.

Hats off to you Sir.

I bought one set of tires from a mom and pop tire store the cost were $78 each not mounted and balanced. The other set i purchased were from Walmart $47.00 each not mounted or balanced. They look the same to me they are rubber, round and they roll.

Let us know when you are officially driving it, we will have an International Cocktail in your honor. Dancing

I have emailed him through ebay, as well as messaging him here on Samba, and can't get a reply. It's just a couple hours from me, I have a friend with a trailer that'll help me pick it up, and for once I actually have money for a bus...just trying to find out a few basic things before sending out the money, like title status (those in NC know what a hassle that can be) the fact that it looks like a rear hatch hinge is sticking up, so status of said hatch, interior, etc... I would love to give it a good home!!!

Well, I've been driving it quite a bit recently, and having a bunch of fun!

I scored a good deal on the new style slider windows for the middle. They should arrive on Friday.

I don't know how much longer I'll drive it regularly; I discovered that there is some rust through in the floor just behind the driver's seat. I don't want to drive it in the winter and get salt up in there. Also the mileage is pretty terrible compared to my Golf, so I'll probably lighten up on driving the Westerner for a bit. But it is really fun to drive-every one loves it!

Hello All,

Found this forum while searching Wild Westerner so I thought I would share my recent purchase. I bought a Wild Westerner in Denver, Colorado about a month ago from Joe's Cool Cars. Vin#2232205005

The thing I find unique is this one has a factory bench front seat. Anybody seen or have one with a front bench seat?

Just thought I would share and show my appreciation of this forum.

This is my old bus! I bought it a couple years ago with the intention of restoring it but my friend joey talked me out if it. He did a really nice job fixing it up. I'm glad to see it has a happy new owner.

That is a fine ride...
I believe you and pickle wagon in Cali have the top of the line Wild Westerners.

As you can see in my avatar I have posted Volkswagen's Destination Code for the Wild Westerners. I think would be cool to have this information added or compiled in list to get an idea of where the Wild Westerners were expected to be sold and or sold.

To get your Destination Code take the m-code plate numbers (located behind the drivers seat) and run it through the m-code decoder.

And please share that information with us.

It would be very helpful if someone could post the m-code decoder as was done earlier in this forum. I have not been able to locate it.

Tough Challenge butt not impossible....
It would be the Ultimate Cool to have one Wild Westerner up and running in every state.
We have located enough Wild Westerners to make this happen still in the USA..
Hell the hard one would be Hawaii and one is there already.
Hopefully, Team Spatula can acquire the one for sale already in NC.
Fla has one, Pennsylvania has one, Ohio one, Kansas one, Georgia one, yes SC has three but I will let one go, and i need to find the one in Myrtle Beach.
The Challenge is to have one running in every state by January 1 2018.

Who is interested in representing their state by owning a Wild Westerner ?

We Will need to work together to make this happen..

The reason i have only mentioned Eastern States is becos most Wild Westerners are located in the Western States.

That would be The Ultimate Achievement for all VW Groups or Clubs...
And the reunion would be off the chain... Doggs !!!

Who is IN ?

There is a Wild Westerner rolling chassis in Pa. I will pm you and give the contact info that i have. I have made a couple of offers but the owner does not respond, maybe you will have better luck because you are local.
