PostPosted: Thu Sep 13, 2012 3:17 am    Post subject: Front engine- rear wheel drive? Reply with quote

So i had this vision last night a car that I need to build....... It involved using a VW engine in the front of the car, like a traditional front engine rear drive set up. I've seen a couple other care with engine set upsike this... Can anybody clue me in on how this is done? Is there a way to modify a VW trans to except a slip yolk, or is there an adapter out there to install a different trans (thinking maybe a TH-300 or 350)??

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Yeah most are done with the turbo 350/or powerglide adapted to the rear. I do remember back in the 70's a Corvair powered T bucket with front engine rear trans arrangement. Or....you could go mid engine like my T bucket with the trans in the rear, type 3 motor under the body Smile

Dredging an older topic; what is the transmission driving for a differential? I can't imagine you've got a driveshaft of any length under the body? Love to see some photos of the setup - the Track T in the classifieds has my design drive going again!
