They are the incorrect frames, but the upholstery looks great. If you can get them to fit, it works for me. The seat back may be tough to fit right as the body holes are 6mm and your seat back is designed for a special 8mm bolt |

That rear seat looks like a 60-64 one, not for a 55. |
I'm curious about this too because I have a '54 that needs a rear seat and I thought I understood that no other years would bolt up. _________________ 1954 3-fold ragtop Beetle project

Visit this thread if you want to see the correct rear seat.
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=598819&highlight=rear+seat
Like I said above, I'm sure you CAN get your seats to fit, but modifications are required. 55 and earlier rear seat bottoms used a tab welded to the frame to secure the seat in place. Later models like you have, use a bar/channel that bolts to the body from side to side to hold the seat bottom in place.
The hinges on the seat backs are completely different, as is the overall shape. Once again, you can get them to fit, just like later front seats mount in 55 and earlier cars.. |

I see what you guy's are talking about now. Thanks Txoval for clearing that up with pictures. I'll have to look further into it. I do know that the bottom seat side piece holders are in place.

Well the journey is almost over. Doors are getting finished up now, had a re-chroming problem that took some time to straighten out and it's all good now.
More to come when the interior is in !!!

thanks for the update Jody, I had wondered recently if she ever got finished up. Looks definitely to be on the home stretch now though. Is she home or still at VMW? Paint and details are very nice! _________________ Brother's 56 Thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=652839 |
