Okay ive been slacking on updating our threads lately and even this thread wont have all the current pics. Somehwere i lost some pics but any rate heres some progress.
Weve just about gotten the floor pan down on all 4 wheels. We got the rear end wrapped up yesterday and all 4 shocks installed.
Rear bumper mounte removed, rebuilt and the metal underneath all repair and mounts reinstalled! Also been working on the rear apron. we were origionall going to repair the OG apron but decided to make the corect apron from a 60's era one. We also got Jodys steering box all cleaned up painted and rebuilt and back together ready to mount!!! And we recieved his new front Autocraft apron from Tom at easttcornerstone!!!!! Thanks Tom!
Heres some pics for now and this week should be a some good progress pics .
We also got Jodys interior choice all sorted out and Lenny and the Gang At westcoastclassics are on it already to get everything stiched up and sent to us for install!!!!

Jody,
Yes they came in from the rear and over the top of the axles. They do look very out of place there and theres been lots of discussion over the years whats correct and whats not but this is the way they go, and i do agree they dont look "correct" but they are. _________________ Joe

100% correct. Trust me, I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.
But seriously, that is correct. _________________ 1956 Rag W/ Semaphores |

I had a good day on Jodys 3 fold today!!!!
We finally got the correct wheel cylinders for the front this morning so i wrapped up getting hos pan rolling on all fours, then installed your steering box and some "temporay" tie rods. Jody your pan looks great!!!
We will stash it away for later and concentrate on metal working your shell!!!
Which i got your rear fenders metal worked by moving the bumper bracket slots for betting fitement and shaved the overrider holes and previous taillight mounting holes, then layed out and mounted up tour eggs!!!!!!!

Thanks Jody Ole Sweet-Pea is starting to look like a car again!!!
We had a great day today on her. We got the A pillars welded in oplace. Then assembled the front half of the car. And i tell you what there is nothing like NOS sheet metal to work with !!!!!!!And the Autocraft front apron fit very noce and will only need a lil bit of trimming to be Primo!!!!!!!
We were going to use the exytra hood you sent but if fit like crap so i said screw it and started rebuilding your OG 4 tab she will be better then new when we are done with it. I also fabbed up a stiffener and welded in behind the lip on drivers side where they are so weak so she should hold up better than ever. I do not have any of teh front sheet metal welded inplace yet. We will get everything aligned up perfect before we do any welding on her!!!!

I would certainly hope you've been in much better contact with him about your car than just this thread and FB updates, which have also gone non-existent. _________________ Brother's 56 Thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=652839 |
