yes...back when they were being produced.
The NEO 1:43rd scale model which are on ebay now (I think coming out of Germany) is not licensed and is in fact a knockoff of another 1:43rd scale model which WAS licensed by Meyers Manx. The model that was licensed is coming from France. There is a moncoque model (old Red) and a Yellow with flowered top pan manx model.

I had bought two of the Franklin Mint buggies..one for display and one to keep in the box...I needed the money a number of years ago...wish I had held on to it now. They are highly detailed.

To be fair Vincent they're only being described as Manxes, not Meyers Manxes, more thru ignorance than malice I suspect.

After 6 pages, I guess it is time for me to make my very first post. I think that cloning is a costly business. The original manufacturer does all the hard work but the clone maker wins due to cost etc, but and yes there is always a but. If someone wants to purchase an original Manx dune buggy, he/she will know the differences between the original and the knock off.

It is the same when someone puts a Rolls Royce fron end on a Chrysler 300. Do you really think that Rolls is loosing any money or a potential client? Of course not.

If someone buys a knock off of any product, it is for one reason and one reason only. They can't afford the original. For those of you out there that have worked hard and do own an original Manx dune buggy, enjoy knowing that the fakes are out there, but your is not one of them. If someone buys a fake by mistake, they should have done their homework.

Just to add, imagine how Mr. Benz fealt when others started copying his idea and built there own cars.

Dude, people don't buy clones and other styles because they can't afford something else. They buy them because they are cool and fun and they can pull your girlfriend for a ride in it.

PostPosted: Tue May 21, 2013 3:01 pm    Post subject: Heartland SR badges on ebay Reply with quote

I have to say that this one is a bit odd. I had a Heartland SR hood and the badge on it was not ABS...it was diecast metal.
I recently found these on e*** and the description for the auction states that the seller found 5 ABS badges in the Heartland SR he bought and he is selling those badges.

I looked at the image and it appears to me as though these were molded in a silicone mold and are cast out of black resin. If these were injection molded, there would not be the number of voids and dings in the edges surrounding the badge itself. The void areas would have been raised up in the mold...which would be highly irregular if Heartland was producing these.

I am in NO way stating that the seller is trying to pull a fast one on anyone. I just know that the badge on my Heartland hood was something different than what these are. Just do more research if you decide to put one of these on your Heartland SR

This car is not the Meyers Forestry Utility buggy and in fact is not a Meyers Manx product at all.

Buyer beware

I wonder; do all the people over here scouting ebay, the samba et etc for fraud Manx items never download a movie? Never copied a CD of your favorite artist. Did you guys never bought a replica handbag or t-shirt while on holiday Rolling Eyes

Did none of you ever bought a cheap knock-off just for price's sake?

I think this thread is useless and quite frankly pethatic.

If it's anyones business to act on this it's the meyers company itself.

I hear you, the issue I have is not in people buying a fake and pretending to be an original, it's about being defrauded in buying a fake for an original one at a premium price.

It's one thing to buy cubic zirconia and let your friends think it's the real thing, it's another being sold a fake diamond and be told it's real.

To me that's the reason for this thread. To each their own I guess.

I find your comments quite interesting especially after checking the items you are selling here.

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1428709

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1435427

With your logic you should have advertised them as a "tire gauge" and a "gas can". You listed the manufacturer for a reason. Could that be that they are a quality manufacturer and would be worth more because of that???

Just a thought from the "pathetic".

That to me makes more sence.
On the other hand, if you're going to let a seller talk you into beleiving it's the real deal, maybe you should have done some more research right?
