So, I've been cleaning wheels finding that Oven Cleaner seems to bethe clear cut winner thus far.
I've also been struggling on the front wheel covers which have decades of brake dust baked onto them that is as tough as a layer of paint!
It laughs at wheel cleaners, it gives slightly to Oven Cleaner and a stiff brush, i soaked it in a tub of soapy hot water over night with only minor loosening, so I tried Muriatic Acid with a level of fear, for the plastic.
I must say that brake dust gave it up within seconds of the acid's application!
I brushed it on, aggitated it with the brush and hosed it off.... GONE!
The right side slots have been done with the Muriatic acid......
(The stains and blotchy paint, that's all highway damage)
The acid did not harm the painted wheel cover at all but.....
It did have a minor appetite for the raw plastic! (You can see the damage line right under the word Muriatic)
A double edged sword....... Brake dust gone, raw plastic slightly marred........
I'm painting the wheel covers with Single Stage Audi Silver automotive paint so I'll just paint everything?

Hey Dave, have you considered the dual-spout nozzles? I hear they're swell, and Chris at T3 sells them (although I think same ones are cheaper elsewhere, like Pellican Parts).
Any issues getting your nozzles detached from hoze, in terms of brittleness, etc.? _________________ '91 Syncro 16 Reimo Hightop Conversion, eTDI |

The wheels and covers look great! I'd love to do this to mine. They have some serious road rash too. |

Somehow I missed your question!
I did not replace any foam, made some repairs to the front seat bottoms and switched the left seat foam to the right to equalize future wear.
I did depend upon Frebreeze and the Sun to neutralize residual odors.
My front seats as I purchased it and my color choices. I chose "Earth" and "Van Tan Vinyl"
For some reason the Earth photographs much more Pink than it actually is....???
If I had a "Do Over" card, I'd opt for more color, too Beige! I would probably choose the "Flannel" fabric with the Van Tan Vinyl.
