thanks for the post on opening your TPS and taking a looksie, it gave me the balls to do it myself, and I was able to fix it. It's not a complicated device.

Not doing major audio upgrades but my factory speakers are shot!
I'm no audiophile, partially deaf actially, all I want is music that isn't distorted.

Just ordered two pair of these........

What I like about them is there no center cone projection for I plan on mounting them in a way that utilizes the factory speaker covers.......

Similar to this post only without the glue..... Hopefully.....

That would be my Truck Fridge......

Yes! Not only in the Van but for other uses as well.

It has performed wonderfully!

I've zero issues with it.

That being said...... IF I were shopping today? The new refrigerator / freezer combo chests hold an amazing draw for me! Even at a premium price point.....

I put a pair of these in the front of my last van. They had them at BestBuy so I compared them to the 4" pioneers that were similarly priced. They cost more in the store of course. The Kickers had better base and I thought they were decent for a low cost speaker. I just took some 4" kenwoods that my van came with and I put in some spare 25 year old stock speakers. Hard to beat OEM quality.

Thanks! I really like the footprint of the 50qt model you have. I like the newer fridge/freezer combo units but the size makes it a little large for the area behind the passenger seat. I was also looking at the Whynter dual zone, but its 28" long.Eats into the aisle way a little.

Just an FYI...... I just installed a speaker in my front door. I was able to use the factory speaker grill with some minor modification.

Took LOTS of photos..... Will post a "How To" a bit later on...... It's PHC (Prairie Home Companion) night though..... Our "Hot" date of the week! ........ Don't get old kids!!! A "Hot Date" becomes a great dinner, and nice cocktails listening to the radio!!! Laughing

So..... Being frustrated with my Floppy side view mirrors I decided that they have to go! ....... Go far far away too!
My drivers side has a broken glass retainer and it flops..... Sad

Yeah....... I read the cure threads, I read the truck mirror threads, I read the Subaru mirror thread...... Somehow I missed the mention of Jeep mirrors?!?

I noticed that newer Jeep Wranglers had nice looking mirrors mounted on the doorrs..... Hmmmmm..... So I posted a thread on here about the concept, got some good responses and also got my A$$ handed to me by others telling me to read the rules, search before posting, etc etc...... It wasn't at all nice so I deleted the entire thread........it is nice to have those "super powers" sometimes..... Laughing such a "friendly place sometimes....... Rolling Eyes

What I learned in that abusive thread was that it has been done and it works.
So, I ordered a pair..... $33 each new.

I started a mirror consolidation thread that willl hopefully continue on producing other mirror ideas utilizing mirrors as they become available.

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=648791&highlight=

I also started a Jeep Wrangler mirror "How To" thread.

One of the Jeep Mirrors is mostly mounted on my Van and honestly ...... I really like it!

The Jeep Wrangler Mirror Link..........

I also discovered steps for the Van.

My Wife has knee issues and getting into the Van can be a chore at times...... Don't get old kids!

To make her life easier and have more "Van time" for me..... (Not at all self serving am I?? ) I've purchased some steps.

"Bully" steps for each front door and a sliding door step......

Here is the thread on steps.......

Thanks guys!

It is really nice doing stuff to the Van because you WANT to...... Not that you MUST!!!! Laughing

Though honestly...... I should rebuild my spare Auto Trans for I'm growing weary of the stupid Van pissing red all over my driveway!!!

So...... You've heard about those "Slippery Slopes" that Vanagon owners so often get caught on?

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Doing a simple task and you realize (or are told) that while you have item "X" off that gives you easy access to "Y" & "Z" ..... And while you're working on Y & Z .... Well C, D, and E are right there so..... Why not?

As seen above..... I'm putting on new door mirrors...... Easy enough, pull the door panel.... Bodda Boom Badda Bing! Done!

Well...... The wing vent is loose...... I need new front speakers..... All new speakers actually..... New window seals for the side window.....

And now...... I KNOW that I should pull the window lifter assembly and clean and oil it! It isn't that much more work!
No tutorials on here that I found for my manual windows but I did find two hosted off site.......

https://shufti.wordpress.com/2011/01/27/vanagon-window-regulator-repair/

http://www.vanagonauts.com/Window-Regulators204.htm

Now If I didn't have to groom my Golden and shuffle off to my daughters home in Reading ....... I would do this today!
And IF my Van didn't look like a bomb exploded in it..... I'd take the Van! Beautiful day! Roads have been rinsed clean by a recent 2" rain thunder storm....
Heavy sigh......

Oh...... And drilling those holes for the new mirrors? You just KNOW that tiny ferrous metal bits are down in the bottom of that door now!
Will they be "seed metal" for rust? Yep, I'm sure they will be!

So I think I'll finish peeling the water sheet and clean out the door, treat any rust I find, make sure the bottom drains are open before closing it back up.....

I wonder what items F, G & H are before I get this buttoned back up?

Bodda Boom! Badda Bing!! Rolling Eyes

Dave

Ok..... At the bottom of the Slippery Slope! ..... I HOPE!!!!

Window regulator removed, cleaned, lubricated and reinstalled!

Door cavity has been cleaned ....... At one point the window was broken! Mountains of class chips in the door!
Sadly I see some surface rust deep in the lower part of the door near the drain........... I'll treat that before I button it up.

It was AMAZING how much dirt and debris was in that door! It is a miracle that it hadn't complete rusted away on me!

If you've never opened up your door, I strongly suggest that you do so and clean it out!
My drain hole was plugged!!!
