While searching through the car I found this photograph. No date, place or time but I thought this had to be sometime in the late 1950's or early 1960's. Maybe some of you can give me your thoughts.

Ok found out from the PO that this not my car. The picture was sent with some parts that he received from Europe. The picture is of a split era car. |

Hey if it helps I didn't notice that either. All I thought was, "wow how cool is that pic." I have no history on my car so I am always jealous when I see stuff like that.
I just want to say I really like the bullet holes. I mean, it won't be the bullet oval anymore after paint right? _________________ Shadetree Westy

That's right Schwing, I feel this car deserves better. Maybe if it was not a German standard brought here from Germany I might have decided to leave it like it was. _________________ Brianna's Grandpa |

Hey Schwing, I liked your idea so much I decided to steal it. As Blauchen L331 would say...I got this from "evilbay" the other day. Schwing, is yours permanently mounted?

yes they are permanently mounted - you wouldn't want it to mysteriously walk away would you? Or shake loose (either electrically or physcally). You can see various ways of doing it in the gallery section - just search third brake light, auxilary brake light, stop light - various forms in the oval section and you see plenty of ways of mounting it. As for hookup, just splice into your brake light. |

Been clipped in the front? >56 fuel tank and holes for a brake fluid reservoir... Didn't research the body number. Fuse box is in the right place for 10/52-'55.
Neat car, I love me some cable brake standards! |

762xxx is like somewhere in late 1957/58?
That front clip has been swapped out from the original at some time....

Body dates from early April '55. Brake fluid reservoir holes are correct. Gas tank is late '56-'60. _________________ Thanks,

Hmm well you learn something "new" here everyday.........
I just NOTICED that in June 1955 they took the body numbers back to 000 001 and started over, (I didn't know that) SO MY MISTAKE, the car has an original body, sorry there!

I have the correct gas tank in my parts car and will be replacing the incorrect one. I would assume that the brake fluid reservoir holes were stamped into the body panel as it came off the press even though this is a standard model. Since this is a standard model, did the factory install a cap over the unused holes or where they left open like this?
From my 1955 parts car.

Nope just bolted on my man. I just bent some steel and made a bracket. When you bend it you have to give it a slight twist so it sits right. I wasn't as lucky as you. My original bracket was cut with a torch so I didn't use it.

Kool they SHOULD see that, shouldn't they? *That's a lovely covered bridge, there's very few of them left in America?* (My parents "first kiss" was in a covered bridge near Reading, Pa. back in 1960!).
I took out the membranes in the 1957 Taillights and they are 200% brighter, must of the time I drive the car, there's little traffic behind me.....I pull over alot and just let people drive on by, LOL!!!!!

Can you run the USFIG plate up front and carry the second Virginia plate? Or do you have to run BOTH plates to be legal |
The Commonwealth of Virginia is very strict about running a tag up front as with the back. I could mount it over or under the tag if I chose to though. |
If you register it as a antique you can get away without running a front tag .. the code of virginia states for antique registration if the vehicle has no provision for a front license plate (bracket/holes) one is not required .. I have run lots of street rods and antiques without front tags and never had a problem.
If you still need to get a title you can go through virginia dmv's abandoned motor vehicle process. you can do it all online but it requires a couple of waiting periods. I have gotten title for several cars that I bought and the original title was lost or not available.
