Hi guys, i would just like to say now i will not disclose the information of where this place is unless at a later time i recieve an ok from the owner who apparently frequents this website. I got lost the other day and caught eye through the trees out the car window of a split window bus, this is a big deal to me seeing as where i live i tend to only see bay windows occasionally (i have probably seen just one split in the past five years and trust me i look). I naturally had to stop and go back, I have found a salvage yard filled with old jewels still in amazing shape, not just air-cooled's, plenty of 60's falcons, triumphs, a 63 buick riviera, a 55 chevy, and so many more. Alot of these cars have almost new looking interiors and somehow decent paint jobs. Now the good stuff, there are 6 split window buses, a pop-up top camper with the sink and what not, a normal camper, two standards, and i cant remember the other two. As far as bay windows go i saw around 4 or 5. Over 20 something beetles, mostly late models all somewhere between 67- 74, didnt see any really late ones (post 74). There are like 3 or 4 convertible beetles. Of the beetles the oldest i found was a rough shape 63, there were maybe 2-3 64-66 beetles, but mostly late models. There was also 1 ghia. There was possibly the biggest mountain of deck lids, fenders, doors, and trunk lids i will ever see in my life. This business is not listed anywhere, not a photo or mention to be found on the interenet. When i asked the man who was there how much he wanted for a red and white bus he gave me a list of directions of where to go and who to talk to saying he could not sell because he didnt own the place. I had to go to a garage of a friend of the owner of the salvage yard and leave a note for him to give to the owner. The owner is an extremely hard to find reclusive type and the man at the garage said my best bet was to just go to the yard on sundays because he might be there. From what the garage man said, these vw's are more important to the owner than his children and the chances of me convincing him to let me rescue a bus are slim. I understand why the man loves his vw's but i just need to help him see that there are people who care about them just as much as he does who will bring them back to there original glorious state and that the poor things will only get in worse shape staying outside, they will die if nobody saves them, well wish me luck, perhaps i will someday be able tell you all about the location of this place, i hope you understand i just dont want people to bother this man if he just doesnt want to sell |

If this Bus has safaris windows, you should either get this Bus or the windshields and all hardware. |
is that a sub hatch up there too? _________________ 66 Bus

some real hopeful buses, i will take that advice about the earlier blue bus. The guy seems to be a Thunderbird fan also , saw a 59' and a ton of early 60's ones. Anyways, i really like the mid sixties red split window, and still have not met the yard owner, he is hard to get a hold of but i will keep you guys up to date |

I'd be real interested in a split or a bay and I'm pretty close to Upstate NY. Let me know if you make some progress. If you can reassure the guy that if he sells them - they will be going to people who will look after them, he might be more receptive - rather than figuring people are just out to make a buck. |
will do! |

I went back several times and then was finally told not to come back until the spring in a rather unfriendly manner, so im waiting to pounce when the spring comes and my bug is done so i can show them how serious i am, the owner is apparently up in the mountains somewhere right now. It turns out i have a friend of a friend who happens to know him! Its just a waiting game now cause i dont want to piss anybody off by going back too soon, I promise ill post any developments. _________________ You CAN save them all. |

just found out the owner should be around this week! took long enough! haha. the man who watches over all the cars is gonna shoot me a phone call when he shows up. P.S. there is a surprising amount of complete early autostick setups there in case anybody is looking! _________________ You CAN save them all. |
