So currently I have 1 generator cover on my generator. I ran the generator for a few years without a cover at all.

And then recently I realized the underside is open. I was thinking of covering up the bottom side opening on the generator.

I do mostly short driving in San Francisco bay area weather.

I read somewhere that the generator needs air cooling.

I have 1 or 2 generator bearings that are gummed up and failing so I'm thinking a cover would help down the road.

What do you think?

Thanks for any info!

Chris

I only have one cover. I assume that gravity has something to do with stuff not falling UP in the lower hole. Laughing

The cooling fan does provide some cooling for generator.

Yup and directly on the other side is the same deal but with no cover. Debris, dust can always fly up in the generator from the fanbelt area. It's mostly just a port to get at the brushes but thats about it. Since most folks don't have either cover or just the top one It cannot be a issue but still. I like knowing its covered up from the engine enviroment/elements.

Keep it covered!

There is a Carburetor sitting right above. Imagine if fuel was to leak and get in the Generator while its sparking...

You know the rest...
