I love what you're doing with those seats.

My seat covers came in last night. I squeezed the foam seat pads inside for a mock up.

I'm in love with them, Sewfine did an amazing job. I just need to clean up my seat frames now.

For sure! My car will prolly be pretty much the same, my only goal for it for now is to keep it on the road as long as possible.

Do you mind me asking where you got your LED tail lights?

I got them off eBay. They were about $20 cheaper than what MidAmerica has them for.

Cant wait to see the finished product.
Quick question i looked at doing the same thing with my high back seats.
Did you use the pads that were already in the seats or did you order new lowback pads? Also do you just cut the top and leave it at that or did you add a new rail to the top after cutting?

I was confused about this for a while as well. You need to order the foam seat backs for a '67. They are a different shape than the foam for a '68+.

I didn't add a new rail on the top, I just cut off the headrests.

I'll take some photos later and post them up for you.

This is the '72 seat foam:

This is the '67 seat foam, it wraps over the top:

The foam pads look massive in the pics, its just because I didn't have the seat back frame bolted down to the seat bottom.

Hope this helps!

You are definitely moving in the right direction with this project....and I can assure you from the parts inventory that you are amassing that your college kid's budget is definitely bigger than the one I had as a college kid. My hats off to you and I think it is great that these cars continue to be appreciated by younger generations.

Thanks for keeping your VW alive.

Tracy

One more question did you just pick a random spot to chop it or did you measure it?

I cut them as close to the welds as I could.

Thanks for all the comments!

Got my wheels and tires mounted and balanced today. Empi Repop Sprint Stars with 145/65 r15 for the fronts, and 195/60 r15 for the rears.

Also updated my rendering of what the car will look like. Decided to go with chrome trim instead of black painted.

I should be receiving a package from CIP tomorrow with more goodies!

I still prefer the high back seats, but that looks great with the orange plaid fabric inserts! Applause
