Hi All,
I am new to the stroker engine scene, but I am in the middle of building a 2006 cc engine which has a 78.4 mm stroke and 90.5 mm bore.
The engine is assembled in a short block form, with Scat 5.5" vw journal rods. The block was decked for the larger pistons / barrels also.
My question is, what type of pistons / barrels are required? There is the 90.5 A and 90.5 B, and I am not sure about any of it?
Thanks in advance! |

Ummmm.........the middle of an engine build isn't really the time to ask that kind of a question.
You want "B" stroker pistons. _________________

Swapped the Compufire for a Bosch blue and some points I had sitting around, started 1st crank. Took her out for a drive, pulls harder, more RPM, and runs smoother. I think I'll be sticking with points from now on. |

Or there is the AA hypereutectic for about half the price. I have heard that "forged" in the Mahles actually refers to vacuum forged - hence the same manufacturing process. If you are building a turbo you might want to step up to the "true forged." The high silicon in the hypereutectic makes for a very strong and hard piston, but it can be a little "brittle" by turbo standards. |

A 78.4 x 90.5 engine is a 2017 cc. You need B pistons for the simplest assembly, I prefer Mahle. I built a 78.4 x 90.5 with 5.5" CB rods and was very happy with it. A great cruiser, plus enough pep to have fun at the Friday night street legal races, depending on camshaft/heads. _________________ Neil.
