I dont know what kind of frame or body this is. I know it has a 1600cc motor and a king pin front end.

It looks like a Funco Bandido with a the rear part of roll caged modified.
Or it a Hi-Jumper Ascot with modified rear part of roll cage.
Front axle beam mounting clamps look like the ones Funco use, The ones that Hi-jumper used have Hi-Jumper casted into them.
Funco and Hi-Jumper both made frames close to what you have in late 1960's to the 1970's.

It a good looking buggy, have fun with it.

This is my Hi-Jumper Ascot I built in 1973.

Dang man, that thing looks sweet! You should definitely start a thread and give us a tour of your buggy. I would love to see more!

Hi!

Didn't I respond to your nearly identical question on another forum lately? I don't see such a post from me in here. I remember some photos of the interior.

My response was very nearly the same as jsturtlebuggy's on here. I also said it was almost certainly a Funco Bandido or possibly a HiJumper Ascot. The back is different from either of those. And I posted a pic of my Hi Jumper Ascot.
LOL

Look close at the cast pieces that clamp the front beam to the frame. If it's a Hi Jumper or a Hobrecht Panzer, it will have one of those names cast into those pieces. Most of Funco's clamps did NOT say Funco. Right under the front lights in this pic:

In my other response, I also noted the business card set in the fiberglass inside the left side panel visible in one of the photos. It might indicate the brand of the fiberglass.

Your car looks like someone has cut the side rails at the back of the cockpit and jacked them out and welded in pieces to make the cockpit wider. My HiJumper has bent top rails to achieve this. But it was the 1st production frame to get that feature. By that time, Funco wasn't making Bandidos anymore and Hobrecht wasn't building frames anymore, so they didn't get that feature.

Here's a pic of my Hi Jumper:

the clamps just have 3 ridges running vertical on them and the business card thing is what is left from what i think is a vin California put on it. If i remember right all i can make out is a VIN, 1972, and labels the manufacture as VW

These are some nice shots of what I think is a Funco Bandido in a Bionic Woman episode.

This looks similar to a Funco SS but the rear is different. I think I can see a FUNCO clamp. Anyone know if it was a production kit or is it a one off?

That a Newman Drager (sic) off road car. It a copy of a Funco SSI made in the San Jose area.
Paul Newman and Doug Drager (my spelling of names may off) made many different chassis's for racing off road, sprint buggies, and hill climbing (Pikes Peak).
Last I heard Paul was in Paso Robles area.
On the car in pictures side pod bumps help with front tires from throwing up stuff at driver.
