It's a buggy ... they're all fun. That said, mine is also what I believe to be a good copy. I never bothered to have it looked at further. It just doesn't matter to me.

One more buggy that gets rescued is one less buggy cut up and thrown in the dumpster. You've passed the first hurdle, the impluse to buy. It looks well constructed, so you have a good starting point, regardless of labels.

Ack... Have one now and just sold another one (my race car)... Have decided in my life one buggy is enough, but if situation were different, I would have no problem buying it (pedigree or not).....

This statement is not correct. I have a Manx that Bruce actually sat in. It came from the factory with the dash molded into the hood and no steel reinforcement under the dash.

I have to agree that the cloth used on hte underside is incorrect for a manx with the big license plate bumpout. The early manxes were all hand laminated (monocoques and the majority of the square tail manxes. Additionally, the dash would have been an abs dash. THe later glass dashes were done with chopper guns and did not have cloth on them (as this buggy does). My vote is that it is a very close copy done on a mold taken directly from a manx.

The Caveat Emptor is that Bruce and Winnie would have the final say.

That's interesting, what's the serial number. Is it a -2 (dash 2)? Does it have back seat wells?

No lifting blocks. Not a Manx but who cares its a dune buggy.

BTW, It looks like it was just repaired with weave. Photos look like chop on the rest of it.

I sent the photos in to Winnie anyway and she confirmed that it is not a Manx. The tubes are wrong as was suspected.

Don't worry, you've still got the makings of a nice little Buggy. You could maybe threaten to go legal on the guy and get a few $$$ back, depending on what you payed in the first place of course.
