Nothing a little duct tape won't fix!
Years ago, I had a similar experience in this baby, nothing a sawed off hockey stuck through the rails of the seats didn't fix!

EA:
I got the joke, I especially like the floor pan sticking out from under your car.
Nice car BTW! _________________ 1971 Super Beetle (past)

Thanks to the warmer temperatures the fuel mileage is back up. That and our trip to Zip's it worked out to 32MPG. No highway driving but 45 50 zones. |
My dad used to brag about his oval window getting 40 + mpg back in the day...then when I was driving my 1971 Super Beetle around (in 1979) we were lucky to get 22-25 mpg....I love seeing you getting into the 30's with yours...not bad for a almost 50 year old car...

Yes - My '56 Ragtop got over 40 mpg on the freeway driving my N. CA to S. CA once. It had slightly smaller tires in the front though, which probably affected things a little. _________________ How to Post Photos

7 Months
I calculated some 7 month numbers: 127 trips to and from work, 23 trips to the gas station minus 1or 2 (I didn't always keep track), 15 trips to restaurants, 34 trips shopping (not just for groceries) and 1trip to get a Christmas tree.
Short mileage week this week 65 miles and a brief revisit from winter. I didn’t really go anywhere since I’ve been busy reassembling Herbie’s engine.

the camber on the Right/Rear side does not look good. hopefully it is just due to the camera....
or the weight in the rear. looks to be some 5 gallon buckets in the rear window. |

Well I said a few weeks ago now that the weather is getting better were going places again. Since the weather got even better than that I put on 291 miles this week. I went an extra 30 miles through Barkhamsted and Torringtion CT to and from Derby CT last Sunday for the Heavenly Donuts Dust off. We also got to hit one of favorite places for lunch on the way home. Dairy Cream in Windsor Locks CT. Then it was a week of the mundane driving to and from work, H and R Block, and the Dr. Office. Last night to finish up the week with a trip to the Mansfield Drive-in Theatre & Marketplace.

DAY 229
Here are some before and after shots from today’s degreasing. I finally removed all the WD 40 That I applied all winter. Looks like it worked. After speaking with people recently I feel some may have been under the impression that I was just driving it like a disposable car all winter. Weekly if not more I was out there even in the biter cold donning the waders to pressure wash and desalt the car all along, then applying WD 40 to point it was just covered in oil.

Day 231 & 232.
finally some signs of spring
Week 34
157 miles this week total. Most of that was to the CVA Dust off then around the local area looking for some place to get some shots of early spring.
I was planning on hitting the Cardone and Daughter open house down in Westbrook CT today but had to do some catch up work around the house instead. I spent too much time with Herbie two weeks ago when I really needed to do that stuff.
