well, for the quality of the work and parts so far, I can live with it. I have wanted to do one of these engines for quite a while. I know there will be people that will say that I wont be able to tell the difference...I dont know and really dont care, Im having a good time doing it so far. To date with the purchase of all the parts and labor, I think Im just about at 4500 even.

Those heads look like the right ticket!

Quick question, please don't take as a condescending comment but I noticed that people porting VW heads use between what looks like Crayola's to sharpie pens to mark up their ports, anything except for blue Dykem. Why is that?

Dykem comes in other colors than blue...probably comes down to either personal preference, or whatever color is within arms-reach of the register at your hardware shop (at least for me...).

He said normally a bit over 200 with this type of port. Although with a turbo, once you are under boost, I think any head will move some good amounts of air
