Well, that's a can of worms, as there's been a number of innovators through the decades, but if I had to narrow it down to one, it would be Gene Berg Enterprises. They contributed a lot to the industry with their own developments and innovations, versus Johnny's which was (as far as I know?) simply a retailer. |

Ok then, name a more important and infamouse vw speed shop from the past, you can't. |
Famous? I havn't heard of this place being mentioned forever.
And I never found a need or desire to order from them inspite of having their catalog. Although a few other suppliers got my orders. _________________ 71 Superbug

having an extremely bad reputation: an infamous city.

deserving of or causing an evil reputation; shamefully malign; detestable: an infamous deed."
I bought some stuff back in the 80's, I had no problems. I am still using my Santana pulley I got from them. I think the CW crank in my bus is from Johnny also. |

My parents have friends in Longbeach. We as a family we decited to take trip from Texas to CA. While we were there visiting we had to go to JSC. It was cool......us boys from Tejas never seen so VW parts at one place . It was a nice visit. I do believe it was the late 70's early 80's. |

I worked at JSC warehouse. Must have been about 1986/1987 or so. I worked in shipping with a guy named Michael Erman I think. I remember a guy named Dallas, and the girl who did all the bubble packs, I think her name was Rosie. I was a fun place to work. After that, I worked at a place called Discount Import Parts Supply ( DIPS ). |

Anyone know if they sold sand rail chassis until they closed? I have a rail first registered in 1997 that may be a JSC chassis. Less likely it's a Bugpack fugitive. A few hoops and flanges are more JSC. |

My Dad (Tom Raftery) worked there for about twenty years (1978-1995 ). I used to go to work with my Dad when I was a kid too. My dad always says he is a lot more laid back now then when he was the manager at Johnny's. He opened his own shop about twenty years ago now, Pacific Customs. |

Tom Raftery was a pretty laid back guy and a nice manager to work for. I was there at the end of it all. _________________ Make it three yards, motherf*****, and we'll have us an automobile race

I get together with a few other former JSC employees. I wasn't able to attend Don Odem's party yesterday but We've been looking for Richard Fuller (warehouse). Anyone know where he ended up? _________________ Make it three yards, motherf*****, and we'll have us an automobile race
