That's W zero. Not W O. VW engine codes introduced before 1971 had seven numerical digits and zero was the leading number of them. W never produced enough numbers to flip to 1 for that first digit. |

www.books4cars.com has 500+ new/used VW manuals for sale. They had a couple different used 411/412 manuals for sale the last time I looked. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

If it was pre-70....it was twin carb European...or gray market through Canada. There were a very few W series engines in early 1971 (first year for 411 in North America) that all came with D-jet injection.
the carbs were most likely Solex 40 PDSIT if memory serves. Ray |

What I meant above was that since the W series began before 1971, it uses the 7-digit number. Engine codes that began after model year 1971 began were two-letters and 6 digits, but continuing engine series kept their one-letter/7-digit system (like type 4 engines W and Z)
It looks like your W0 101 950 engine was produced during the 1971 model year. |

The manual you ordered will have pictures in it. I was just thinking you should buy this stuff from adamharo in his thread below.

This is how the Type 4 was equipped as far as my records show...
http://www.vwocgb.com/chassis.php?chassisID=8
I produce that listing for Volkswagen Owners Club GB some years ago from my VW documentation.
'W' series Type 4 engine all equipped with Bosch fuel injection. I've used four vehicles powered by that engine in the past. Three Type 4s and one transplanted into a 1973 Type 2. _________________ Rod,

Also to all of those looking on who are not from Europe....that is primarily a European list. It does not show the EA and EB series that were in the US. Ray |
