the angle of the full lift pic makes it hard to see but it looks good or might need to come down about .015" ~.040"
you want them to walk more than wipe, to high(more shim) you get into the wipe witch is trying to pull the valve, walk is just that, pushing down & walking across the lash cap. a lower rocker also quickens the begining of the lift cycle ( more ratio at the begining of the lift cycle)yes the ratio changes throughout the cycle. |

Thanks for the input. I will try a thin shim under the rockers and see how it looks. I was surprised how good it looked already, considering it didnt take me long to find my max lift point, and when I started checking geometry, it was alomst dead on. I did have excessive rocker side clearance on that valve, which I believe could have caused it to walk more than sweep. All that has been corrected, and I will have another go at it and see how it looks.
edit: I am also getting above the advertised lift at the valve. Engle publishes .534, I'm up in the .569 range.... These are SCAT 1.4:1 rockers. |

Sorry for the confusion, I was talking about putting a shim beside the rocker (on the rocker shaft) to get it more centered on the cap. _________________ "...swingaxle...transaxle...same diff." |

Ahh, ok. I noticed this as well, and corrected when I adjusted the side clearance. |

Are you sure those are Scat, Scat usually has their logo on the arm. And the tips should be flame hardened. They actually look like Empi's and your getting about 1.48 ratio. As long as you have ample piston to valve clearance your geometry looks gtg. I look for the pushrod to be parellel to the head at half lift. _________________ 2276 IDA's 86C 11-1 DD !

The "No lift" picture looks like the spring is straight, but something is looks crooked to me.
I really like that type of adjustment on rockers. I think the adjustments are way more accurate.
They look like mine, Mine are EMPI's. I have 1.25's though.
Regardless of what brand they are. They are much better than a set of worn out stockers and dont have wavy washers to break.
I had to switch to Chromoly pushrods cause the Bugpacks mushroomed.

I try to get the pushrod angle&cup angle as inline as possiable around full lift where the max pressure is.why would you want to be pushing at an angle at max pressure with a tiny adjuster screw that has a hole through it and threaded. also try to keep the adjuster as far up in the rocker as possiable,I usualy remachine the lower part of the rocker so there is no forging flash that keeps it from going up as most do.
as for the added lift that type of rocker is a variable ratio,as the lift increases the foot walks out and the pivit & contact get farther appart so the ratio changes. lowering it some more you can loose some of that lift but gain a quicker opening rate and make more power in most cases. |

Well I thought I was gaining on things finally. Geometry looks great, but my lift is .567. My Tims heads are setup for a max lift amount of .550.... Now what? |

i ran into the same problem, i called tims and verified, as i was getting .550 with a advertised of .536. i used thinner lash caps. which brought the lift down. _________________ Co-owner, 2 Brothers Guns

change springs or rockers.most of the 1.25 like what you have check out at 1.33~1.35 ratio. bugpack 4046 springs should work or the cb ls1(I think) should also do the trick. |

I've got a set of Berg duals around here somewhere, perhaps I will try them.
Thinner lash caps would have the same effect as shimming the rocker pads right? Both of them would extend the pushrod length or cause the adjusters to run in farther. My adjusters are almost all the way in currently, a thin shim may help correct that. |

Tims says .550 max lift to be safe. I think the Berg spring I have may be ok to .60 (according to their website). I'll swap them in and check it out. |

most of the time you can mesure the wire to determan if there going to work. Ive got oh so many miles on my bugpack 4046 springs,there a good spring.Ive never used the cb high lift spring.....yet |
