I'm building a baja bug based on a 1302 from 1971.

Will be used as a daily driver and only used on normal roads.
No offroad driving at all.

I use a baja kit for standard beetle so it does not really fit.

I use this kit instead of a kit to super beetle because I think that super beetle kit looks like ####.

But with a saw and a few hours later, it looks like this.

The tires are 235/75-15 on the original 4 "rim.
Same front and back.

A little larger than the original

Looks good. I always wanted to see if a standard kit could be made to fit a super.

That looks good. I know you don't plan to off-road your baja, but when you cut off the nose of the car you are losing some of the structure for the front suspension. You should think seriously about bracing between the strut towers so they don't start pushing in towards the middle of the car. Even a simple bolt in bracket that mounts on top of the struts, or through the sheet metal will keep it from folding in on itself. I have seen it happen on several light duty street bajas made out of Supers that had no reinforcing. Have fun Wink

I agree with wbrown45 ..... you will need to add the strut tower brace to prevent flexing. I think they make a 3 point brace from the towers and the firewall, i think...

I have not decided yet what color I should have yet.
Either white or this

The advantage of the brown is coming rust will not appear as much like on a white car.

Glad to see you are still plugging away with the Baja. Did they import the Rabbit pickups (caddy for you? Golf?) to Sweden? How are things in your "neck of the woods?" Smile

It has peed his territory like a dog, so I have to replace the valve covers as soon as possible.

That head's neither a stalactite, nor a stalagmite .
It looks more like a helictite or just a chunk of limestone.

I have not decided what type of bumper I want yet.
Think it will be a modified stock bumper

How did you get the larger tires on the front wheels without rubbing the front springs? Did you use a spacer?

I have tapered springs, bit I don't think it makes that much extra clearance.

How do you like the bus mirrors? Did you have to drill out the passenger door. Are you able to fold them sideways? I have debated doing the same.

Bumper brackets and extra headlights.

I used square tubing and welded them into position in the beam that connects the spring tower with the frame head

A little long so far, but will be shortened soon
