looking for any input on cab high versus stock high hoops on 67 single cab truck.
Stuck on which way to go and could use pros and cons of both.
Thanks,
SS

Off the top of my head:

Pros:
Stock - Looks right, can use standard canopy cover
Cab Height - fits in most garages, takes stock cover, better gas mileage? (not sure)

Cons:
Stock - Doesn't fit in a lot of garages
Cab Height - Looks weird (my opinion), requires non-stock cover

Thanks.
Garage not an option. But always has to have cover on it. Cover maker say either one has to be custom made like my present cover.
I think that stock also looks "right".
Heard anything about causing drag when going down road or anything>
Thanks again.

I had a stock height one (tall) on my 1967 crew cab and you definitely know it's back there. Real fun when you get passed by an 18 wheeler on the freeway.

My vote is for cab hieght . Way easier to cover, and less drag while driving. But, I'm just your bro, what do I know? Wink

A friend of mine has a sweet DC with the cab-height hoops and canvas. It looks really good IMO.

I don't drive with the canvas on but stock height with canvas on it would create drag and affect mileage I bet, you are putting a wall of fabric in the air path.

I drive around all the time with my Double Cab hoops on and don't notice anything.

Truck mileage is worse than my full Bus but I think that is the open bed just as much as anything. I haven't done any mileage experiments with and without the hoops on the same vehicle.

here is my experience:

65 single with a VERY tall 6 hoot hoop and canopy on it, feels good around town. anything else is no fun.

60 doublecab with a 40horse, stock height hoops, works great, we often rolled up the sides so wind force is not as noticeable.

However, we made a trip through hungary (very windy at the time) loaded to the gills, so we could not roll up the sides, would not go faster than 50 miles per hour, while the 36 horse panel easily did 60 miles per hour.

Don't need custom made cover if stick with stock hoops. Busware makes excellent canopy covers.

Take a look thru the gallery to find what you like, personally I prefer stock height.

Like Ev said, you'll definately pull the tilt off to drive any distance.

Good Luck

Very glad I read this. I had taken the sc with stock tilt on an hour drive at 50-55mph. Felt it was really working to get there. Now I know why.
