|
|
Hello!
After some year of searching for "the barndoor", I finally found it.
A 1951 Kleinbus, found it only 30km from my home, it was crashed in 1961, than the front was cut away, and the back of the bus was pulled out to the sea line, and there it was used as an fishing cabin.
I found it, and payed it in the fall, and prepared the pickup, that would happen in the wintertime, due to the water around the bus. I was able to walk
through the woods, but it was not possible to take the bus that way, only over the sea. I used snowmobile to pull it, and as an extra challenge I was alone on the whole expedition.
After one day of loading, and trying to pull it, I had to about the mission, and wait to the next day.
So, in last Sunday, I finally got it moving for the first time in like 50 years!
Check out my blog for more pictures!

U have Pickup, Panel, Kombi, Klein and Deluxe.
Panel was built to have gods in the back. Kombi was built as an combination, to have gods or backseat, to have people inside the back. The Klein was more for people transportation only, and so the deluxe, and the deluxe was more luxury than the Klein, and the Klein was more luxury than the kombi.
Hope u understand what I means.

Love the rescue. Must have been an ace sense of achievement recovering it on your own
Klein = commonly referred to as a Standard by us lot
Ace English & description. Just gods = goods really. Built to have gods in the front! _________________ -StockRocks- |

Thank´s boys and girls!
This rescue was not easy (as it ever is????)
but I managed to do it on my own, which was a thing for me.
Ill try to collect as many parts that i can, and when I have most of the missing big parts, Ill order funky green metal, then do a rolling chassis outeside of the bus, than weld the body to chassis.
Thank you for looking!

I always find it odd when someone sells a VW that's stuck in a remote location. Looks to be in very good condition for a barndoor that's been exposed to a marine environment for so many years. _________________ Check my classifieds for kewl gauges:

I like a story like this...Seems a bus that has been multipurposed is a better bus IMO....especially a BD bus. No doubt this one will roll again...Congrats on bringing this one home after all your hard work _________________

GREAT !
Wild rescue and a terrific Patina paint scheme to start with. Would be great if you could keep that in the restoration process. Hope you stick with it and get going. Good Luck ! |
let's just say that Gerson would make crazy karma points by shipping the missing funky green frame pieces to sweden. _________________ regards
