Here's my project. It is matching numbers body, pan, and engine. The car was produced on March 14, 1952 and was delivered to Winter, Berlin. The car is somewhat complete missing a front seat, the 16" rims, taillight bulb holders, and a few other odds and ends. The car arrive this morning at my shop in Fort Lauderdale.
I know that I have the wrong air cleaner and I have the oil fill cap, but what else is incorrect on the engine?
These are the headlights that came with the car, are they correct?
If anyone has a split front seat for sale please let me know. _________________ New Vintage Specialist.

Hi
The lense headlight seems correct, see if you find any L part number's on the headlight.
I dont have seats to sell
About the engine seems correct, missing oil filler tube, see if the switch pressure is with screw, but as far I can see everything seems correct.
Good luck with the project. |

First of all congradulations! However I was sent 5 pics of this car from Joe C as well almost a week ago and he would never answer some of my questions or hook me up with the owner to buy the car. Frustrated! But I am still glad for you. I really am. Is this car an original black car?

I was told that the car was L90 Sand but the birth certificate does not state color, it states not recorded. I will peel back some of the primer and see what I find. I hope to have the car running tomorrow. _________________ New Vintage Specialist.

56reddy, your car is 2 days newer than my car......Wild going on 60 plus years ago and they are two days off. Your motor looks pretty complete and correct. You can tell it's a split fan shroud by the higher location of the wire clip on the shroud, even though it is not seamed. Mine motor is the same way. Cool Car....get it rolling and enjoy. _________________ " Southern Comfort Vintage Volks "

Well, I started the 25hp for the first time in 30yrs. Ran great for the 20seconds it ran before oil poured from the rear of the case. I pulled the engine and no rear main seal I'll get one tomorrow and start working on the brakes. I should have a drivable chassis by the end of day tomorrow. _________________ New Vintage Specialist.

Today I took a closer look at trying to confirm the original color of the car. The previous owner said the original color was L90 Sand. I decided to strip a few areas on the car that may still have original paint. Not many people strip the wheel wells back to bare metal so I started on the front drivers. It sure looks black to me, so I decided to try all the wheel wells, and again black. The more I looked the more black I see. It is 100% a black car.
Next, I looked at the brakes. The fronts are oval 2bolt wheel cylinders, but with the original 4bolt backing plates. The rears are oval 2bolt wheel cylinders and backing plates. The rear brakes are oval due to a 1956 transaxle that was installed by the previous owner. The brakes have all been rebuilt with turned drums and re-arched shoes. I added a master cylinder with an aluminum reservoir, adjusted the shoes, and I have functional brakes!
I got a rear main seal for the engine and installed it. After re-installing the engine and letting it run for a minute, out comes the oil from the engine/trans mating area. Rear main? Flywheel? Missing seal or gasket? I'll post some pics later today.
Is a 36hp flywheel the same as 25hp?
Here are some parts that I've cleaned up.

I started to tackle the rust repair. I removed all the previous owners patches and prepped for new metal.
The lower firewall is done. Now on to the the A-posts

Today I figured out why the engine was leaking oil from the rear main, it was a bad flywheel. I changed to another flywheel and no leak.
Next task was to tackle the passenger side A-post.
This is what was left after cutting out the rust.
completely removed
All done, next is the drivers A-post.
I haven't decided yet to either patch or replace the heater channels. What do you think? Repair or replace? I think it will be easier to replace than repair, but should I try to keep as much original metal as possible? Let me know what you think. _________________ New Vintage Specialist.

Now all it needs is a little finish grinding.
Next I think I will change both heater channels. _________________ New Vintage Specialist.

Todays mission is to replace the driver side heater channel. I know it is not the correct heater outlet, but I'll fix that later.

The heater channels are complete! Everything fit very well and needed very little messaging.
Next there is a little welding to do under the hood. Then all the welding will be done.
Hope to start body work next week. _________________ New Vintage Specialist.

Now correct me if Im wrong here but in 52 the heater outlet holes did not have the screens on them right?

The heater channels are for 53-55, I'll change the heater outlet to make them split heater outlets by removing the screens and making the oval shaped outlet round. _________________ New Vintage Specialist.
