Check out that red wagen!
do you have flashbacks of the multitude of tribulations of that area you just covered up with gloss?

Leave it to you for that reflective response. No. I put fresh cartridges in my mask and have full face coverage. I pressurized the plastic bubble with filtered fans for good ventilation. I was amazed by how sticky the finish paint dust is compared to primer. A head sock is a must.
I can't believe I actually pulled this off. As I stare into that reflection I do have flashbacks from the two years leading up to this.
All is not perfect though. There are runs and sags that need to be fixed. I dropped my air gun and chipped my rocker. I need to move slower around the fresh paint.
I forgot to degrease my plate. These are the only fisheyes. I will remove it and strip it again.
The bed gets painted today.

Great job on the truck! Only thing I have to ask though, with all the time and effort and detailed prep work, why didn't you use a Top Line paint system? _________________ Pres. Rivercity VW Club www.rcvwclub.org

Not Top Line brand , but as in a higher quality (Sikkens, Glasurite, PPG Concept). It looked like you were using Nasson. Again no disrespect, the truck is coming out great, you don't want to have to do this one again any time soon, my thought on using the best paint available the first time. _________________ Pres. By the way all paint is too expensive!, one of our worst costs at work. _________________ Pres. Rivercity VW Club www.rcvwclub.org

Aww... that has to feel SSOO good having it all painted now! Looks great.
The bad news? YYUUPPP, more sanding, wet this time. lol
Just a suggestion Kurt, when I wet sanded my 67 bug that I painted single stage, I didn't always wet sand in one direction. I paid for it with additional time in buffing all those fine 2000 or 2500 grit sand scratches. After I buffed my hood with a course compound and wool pad, I still had sand scratches from the wet sanding paper.
I had to do it all over again. This time, I only sanded in one direction. Then, when I thought I was done with the wet sanding, before I started bufing, I got the panel wet and looked carefully for any fine scratches that were still on it. In some spots, I had to sand a little more to remove additional scratches that I missed. After insuring all the wet sanding scratches were removed by wetting it again and looking carefully with a good light, I then buffed it again. First with a course compound and then a polishing compound. What a difference when you don't see any scratches.
After I got done, I watched a show where a guy was wet sanding what was a 30k paint job he just completed. He also stressed only sanding in one direction. You see people on youtube and other sights that do circles with the paper and go in all directions. I found that to be NOT a good idea.
Do you have a goal date to have the truck all completed by? _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

nice video
I don't want to accuse you of being a fastidious planner, but it seems a great stroke of luck that you were able to locate footage of a funky old blue single cab spinning lazily on a rotisserie to match the red one
it all looked like magic at first, but then i spotted your feet _________________ regards
