This weather is strange, we spent the weekend free camping on the south coast in the Westy and rather than have hats and gloves on we had t-shirts on Shocked

Anyway I thought I would share our shenanigans for those who like to watch them, http://campervanculture.com/2013/02/february-wild-vw-t3t25vanagon-wild-camping-in-the-uk/

Weather is not just strange where you are, it was +11c last evening and rain when I went to bed, and this morning -11c and blizzard warnings province wide, I can't see 10 ft in front of me. My vans will stay in bed for a little while yet...

That's a cool old bridge but 'Wild Camping"? In this part of the world its not wild camping if you're on a paved road with cell reception! Wink

Love it - keep 'em coming!

I wish we all could just pull off the road anywhere & overnight like that.

Stateside, we come across way too many of these:

Great Video, Jed, as always. I was lacking motivation to repack CV joints today, but your videos always help me keep my eyes on the next trip.

I really enjoyed the info on the old bridge and the short tour of the old churches (my favorite part of that was the high tech spotted in the hands of your traveling companion). We don't have anything "old" in the United States yet, so it was nice to take a "tour" with you. Love your van, too! Thank you.

Ah - so its stealth camping? Let's call it that, then.

Thanks for the kind words chaps Very Happy

The roof rack and light bar was made from things I have collected over the years and bolted together by myself really. It has lots of other bits to it that clip on and off, it was in lightweight mode in this video.
The weather is weird for sure, it was freezing again today Confused . We get loads of those "NO CAMPING" signs too but there is an art in finding good places in the UK and I like to think I have developed the knack and become quite good at it Wink I am glad you liked the info on the bridge and had our American and Canadian subscribers in mind when I did that. The truth is though that there are literally hundreds of thousands of random old things like that dotted around the place that no body takes any notice of, I like trying to get a feel of the history in them and try and imagine what it was like all those years ago.

Glad you all liked it and watch out for the next one,

Jed

Great shots man! I'd love to know more about your camera gear too. Are you using a dolly for the panning shots or just have a steady hand?

Take a look around Jed's site... I know I've seen other video(s) where he tests some of the panning equipment.

Jed, thanks for the latest installment!
At the beginning of this vid, did you happen to talk to the owners of the green RV? I'm curious what kind of stove they had inside that was smoking. Wood fired I assume?

You know what I didn't speak with him. When you get two wild campers using the same area in the UK its rare you do speak, its usually because you respect each others space and consider the fact that the other person is wild camping means they want to get away from the crowds to be alone. You usually give each other a nod or a wave when leaving or say a good morning if you come face to face while doing something. That said all those rules go out of the window if both vans have kids on board Laughing
I did notice he had a bow saw on the front seat so assume he was burning wood.

This one was done just using a Gopro, nothing flash. I do use a slide rail though that we were given to try out and review for a Korean company and I have got to say it is very good indeed.
Here is a video of us messing around with it when we first got it. The chap you can see using it in the video is Alan@Campervanculture who designed and is selling the plasma clock gauge kits on the website at the moment,

Great video Jed! I used to live in Oxford in the 80's and the Caravans were all around showing up sometimes for days. These are the horse pulled variety.

Do we have a stealth camping thread? Tips and tricks? My tip is I crack open a beer than another one etc... If the fuz shows up I cannot drive anymore Smile Also keep the roof down if in a busy area.

Sometimes you get the best ocean or lake side spots doing it stealth.

Yeh, its quite an unusual place is Arundel and I can imagine what you mean by the coffin dodgers that must live around there. I often wonder why a city never developed around the castle and cathedral rather than just the quaint village Confused Maybe the houses back then were made of wood and have rotted away.
