This thing is turning out awesome! Just picked mine up from Crumco last weekend. I was just wondering what bushings you used for the rear arms?

truckstuff55,

We picked the bushings up from Dave Bonner over at Kartek 951-737-7223. Kartek is a great resource for parts. Dave is very helpful and has an amazing amount of off road knowledge.

*Race Pivot Bushing Part# PRM-600 You will need 8

*Long Inner/Slv for 60414 Part# KTK-ISL100120L You will need 4
On our car they were a little bit long (about 1/16th) making it difficult to get the arms in but once we trimmed them down the arms went in nice and smooth.

Good luck on your build and I look forward to watching the progress!

I have had 1 of my two weeks off school for the holiday break. We have invested quite of the bit into the car so far. We made monumental progress today when we put the body onto the car for the last time. In two days we are going to start welding it in place. This is a HUUUGE step, and I am very happy. It is a pain in the ass to take the body on and off. Here are some pictures of our progress.

This is a broad picture of a bunch of triangulation we did onto the body.

we also bent a metal plate to protect the passengers in the rear seat from getting fingers pinched in the coils.

and this is our cutting/steering brake.

We still have a lot of welding to do on the cage in order to secure the body, so we cant paint the cage until the welding is done. In order to weld it you need clean metal. It seems like it will be difficult to paint it with the body on, but my dad said that this is how you do it.

Just got done reading the whole thing great job guys, I too wish that I would have had the time and money to do a build like this with my sons and now they live to far away and I am trying to get my son into this again so he can do it with the grandson.

I was wanting to see the updates on the steering dampener and what you decided some pictures, I am wanting to do something like this to my dune buggy.

westcoastbug&baja, Looks like you may have to give the Kid a ride so he has an idea of what he has been working so hard on.

Thanks Bajatex! My Son has done a great job keeping up the thread!

dfunkesq, I have to say despite it taking a lot longer than we had hoped and despite the many frustrations we have worked through the car is turning out great and we have learned a lot!
We are going to use the electric power steering without a steering dampener as it has dampening built into it. We won't be able to give you any feedback for a few more months on it but as soon as we ( and several of my buddy's that want to try it) get some driving time, we will give you our opinion. For what its worth... With the system turned on I was able to easily steer the car in the garage by the splined steering shaft with my bare hand.

Nice build guys! I'm curious to see how well two people fit in your back seat, I'm building a similar car and can't decide on a bench or singleseat in the back I'm worried about headspace. Also did you get the 220watt steering kit and do you know if this is the same one they sell at Pacific customs?

WrRider;
Our power steering is the 220 watt universal kit from SuperAtv.com. We got ours from Dan's Performance. I'm not sure if Pacific Customs carries the same one.

The back seat is very tight. We can safely fit two smaller sub-5'6" people in the backseat, but I doubt we could fit anybody much bigger.

WrRider, We are running 33X10.50R15 tires, the fronts are mounted on 5" wide wheels and the rears are on 8" wheels. We plan to run 4-5" wheels with beadlocks at all 4 corners when the budget allows.
