I have a 75 bay with dual kadron solex 40/44 eis. I am stranded at a friends house on the way to bug out. The bus has been running amazing over the past few months and ran great during the first hour of my drive. All of a sudden it starts to bog and hesitate under load. Still idles great. Need help. What could cause this all of a sudden?

If it idles it sounds like a clogged fuel filter. There is some fuel just not enough for driving.

what did you do in the 20 minutes prior to the bogging? Park it, climb a big hill, drive thru a rain squall - fill it up?

Do you know how to check the points to see if the dwell / gap is correct?

I was about an hour into the trip from va beach to bug out in richmond va.
I just came up out of a tunnel and about five mins later started to bog slightly then went away for 10 mins. It gradually got worse over the next 20 miles until i made it to my friends house. It idles great. But after 5 mins of driving it starts to bog and die.

I have a clear glass filter and i can see through it so im not sure if it would be clogged. Maybe i should still replace it but it just looks clear.

Just a 12v electric pump.

How is it powered (relay or hillbillied onto coil)?, done a flow test into a small container?, should pump better than 1 liter in a minute.

Do you own a dwell meter?

You don't need a flow meter, stick the end of the fuel line to the carb(s) into a gallon jug of some sort and activate the pump (however your particular system works) and run the pump for 30 seconds or a minute, then see how much fuel it pumped, also watch the flow incase it slows to a trickle after a few seconds.
A dwell meter shows you the condition of the points, completely unrelated to fuel issues but the points can exhibit some similar symptoms so you'd better find out if they are happy or not.

So that means it's time to root around under the back seat amongst the seat hair drippings, 1/2 eaten french fries and happy meal toys for that spare distributor with the preset and tested points in it and the clamp already set to the correct timing preserved in a Ziplock bag that you keep there for emergencies and slap it in. You do have a preset spare back there....right???, because leaving the driveway with only an electronic replacement module is madness and they could cause the symptoms you describe.

Seems sometimes i can be a little slow....when i was under the bus playing with the pump i noticed this corroded sealed canister inline before the pump. Another old fuel filter. Pulled it out and had some chocolate milk pour out. Lol changed it with a universal glass fulter with replaceable elements. Adjusted the carbs and it ran like a champ! Thanks guys. I really appreciate your help!!!!
Thesamba is awesome!! Very Happy
