Before Bryce, I left that place in 04 and before that only 2 other people from oversea's besides me and my friend Jason were there...(That Joe had told me) so that makes 5 of us but I know of 3 other people that knew of the place but never been on the property like I said they didn't care about the $$$ only the people the car's were going to be sold to...so the time frame would be late 70's up until 2004 and then Bryce got the last of the "EASTLAND 8" Cool and so end's the legacy of the 1,001 vw and porsche graveyard Crying or Very sad

Guess the 356 Registry guys don't want to know about cool finds like this since they're rewriting (and breaking) links to thesamba.com, LOL.

That's pretty sick Sad (What the 356 registry cronies are doing).

http://porsche356registry.org/356talk/1/32833.html?p=183271&hilit=samba#p183271

Look at that, from this site you can get to the Registry! Cheque writers have lost their minds! Smile I guess this is how they get to keep some sense of 'ownership' over people.

A bit off topic. It looks like any link to a phpbb forum is broken. I think it's a glitch in their software.

I just want to say I was there resto Johhny and i have bought afew cool things out of there . I took Bob Koch there man a LONGGGGG time ago.. probably in the 1992 ear. I have lots and lots of pics.. the original deal was 23 buses including two trashed 23 windows. This is even before bus prices hit the roof. There were the three panels and more solid straight DRY!! sheetmetal there than i have ever seen. And the barns were full of nos stuff and good used parts. There werre about 20 or so trashed 356 but still buildable cars and there were lots of mercedes as Joe loved those cars. probably at least 150 of them. Sound like Bryce just happenened the be there at the right time and thats great. I am just glad they did not get crushed.
I pulled a 57 vert for Bob koch a 56 polar silver ragtop and a 64to 67 slider door bus out of that yard.
JOE was a millionaire and money meant NOTHING to him.. those that knew him GUNS or GOLD thats what he always said.. right after how you gonna pay me..
I said paint and body work.....i had a ace up my sleeve.. he had lots of damagad cars..
No one mentioned it it but it site right on I 20 about 1/4 mile off the major huge highway. And wasnt hard to see at all as he had about 5 or 6 super rare mercedes 190 coupes lined up under a carport. And a huge sign that said swap shop, and behing in auto parts..
I dont have bad memories to talk about just joe was very hard rto deal with without guns or gold in hand.
I will see what other pics i can scare up.. I drove out there once just to take pics he was leaving but gave me the ok to do it. I was going to make a coffee table (lost and found vw book) thought most of his stuff was good for that since most of it was to hard to aquire.
I had a deal made for the whole lot to a california scrap yard owwner once for 460,000 that will tell you how much stuff and quality was there about 400 cars and tons of parts..It also sits about 45 minutes from abilene. How those guys never got it amazed me.. Just surprised it all gone.. very weird..
sorry t hear that Joe sr passed but he wasnt good when i met hm the first time.
I will hun those pics.. i stay off forums usually as theres to much crying bitching and finger pointing..to many know it alls and whiners.but i will see what i can find for you picture hounds
later good luck Bryce and congrats..

Cool story.

If this was 1992 that was a good time to take all payments in Gold, if he kept it all.

John very cool story indeed. Here's a few of the other logo'd panels that are now stashed away. None of the 8 buses have any rocker rust its amazing or have any cutting done to them. Just front floors need work on them. Most are missing parts and the wrecked 13w buses are dry and lots of good metal but I'm reluctant to cut anything up in today's world of saving them.

I would rather buy a dry bus and replace parts than buy a rust bucket that needs a ton of welding.

I don't like the negative comments about these buses in the wine thread. Very nice rockers and doglegs is what I see. I'm not a fan of panels but love double doors regardless. If the guys talking crap wanting rollers don't know of a tranny they can shove under it then maybe they don't need it.

I think it might be the same type of guy who will drop $4000 on wheels and lowering crap while they drive around with the rusty rockers dragging on the pavement. To each his own, but I think the are fairly priced, but then again I am not in the market for a logo's panel.
