I saw 2 Vanagons on the way from Guerrero Negro to Ensenada today. One was brown and was parked at Catavina where the Cave Painting display is. The other was green and was headed south between San Quintin and Ensenada. It had surfboards on the roof rack. |

Guggenheim, where did all that food come from?
And here we thought all you ever ate were strawberries and other fruits, vegetables and nuts! Closet taco stand man... You told us you were taking pictures, now we know the rest of the story! |

I have to watch my figure; if you only knew how much I really eat... I always have snacks prepped and ready to roll. I snack the entire day, esp while driving; strawberries, fruit, veggies, and nuts!

Thanks for the video keinan, that was like food this is the first time for 5 or 6 years we haven't been down! You got a Proud Mamma there! We went and saw some humpbacks in monterey bay last week and they breached and it was super but there is nothing like a sweet mama whale that wants to meet you and show you to her baby! Yes, I must end every sentence about being with a whale with an exclamation point! _________________ 84 westie 2.2 w/ digijet, AT |

Put in for time off.
My 2 kids, our dog, and I are leaving Washington on/around July 13th.
I'd like to spend some time in N. California in the redwood forest.
I'll be in San Diego on the 17th-19th for a conference and headed down after.
No real set plans, I'd like to explore while making our way down to La Paz.
Possible places we will visit are, Guerro Negro, El Rosaria, Camp Bahia Conception, and Bahia Los Angeles.
I'd like to cross the border to head back home around the 27th.
We are def open to camp/hostel ideas as this will be our 1st drive through Mexico and our biggest run in our new to us westy. |

I would like to do some mountain biking down there but I'm not sure how safe I feel with hauling my bikes. I would like to do some trail riding and some freeriding.
When I was in La Paz last I rented a bike, it was trash.
I do have the ability to haul 4 bikes on the back of my van. But I'm not sure if hauling $15K in bikes would make me a stand out. This would be my 1st time driving in Mexico and I want to stay low key.
Any thoughts on this? |

I don't plan on boondocking, bikes are always locked up. I would throw them inside the van if ventured away (shopping, swimming, etc). |

That'll do it. Don't believe our media when it comes to judging Mexico. They report the exceptions, not the norm. Speak a little Spanish, tip, and be humble and you'll have a great time! _________________ '90 White Westy ("The Longship")

Just take the same precautions you would in the US. Don't hang around Tijuana, head south, have fun! Vanagons are pretty low key, nothing like a 40' fifth wheel with a jacked up Chevy Duramax 4 x 4 and 6 quads behind. |
