No gap,And tacked about 1/4-3/8 between each tack when done tack'n. I am use'n very thin rod. I only use rod when tacking about every 3-4 tacks, I am fuse'n together with no rod on the rest. If I have a low spot before welding, I use a few more tacks with rod and then hammer tacks a little to raise panel. Try not over hammer tacks, If you distort panel next to weld its harder to metal finish flat

Are using TIG or MIG for your welding? I thought I saw somewhere in one of your threads that you TIG weld panels.

If you use TIG would there be an need for a gap if MIG welding? I too have seen people recommend having a gap when butt welding panels, but they were using MIG.

A few of the tools and templates I used on the work I did . By the time I am done with the metalwork, I would have ran a vixon file over entire car body. Helps pick up small low spots to fix.

Absolutely beautiful.

I don't wish I had all those tools, because that would just show how I'm lacking the skills to do such work Sad

Thanks for the updates, love to see 'em.

Primo! And I can see if you need a tool, just make it. Makes sense.
How do you treat the metal after you finish it with your shaping and filing, and you need to start getting ready for Paint? I mean youve still got alot of tiny divots and scratches etc. Do you sandblast it to scour out the rust?

First clean with metal prep a chemical that gets rid of rust , Then wallnut shell blasting. Then DTM epoxy primer from valstar.

Thanks for posting Danny! I would love to see a video or pictures of flattening the fender lip and reforming. This is an area I have a lot of problems. I would be willing to pay for a video of this. I have not seen anyone do a video on fender lips with the exception of "square" lips and wire edges. Thanks!

Your bodywork skills are truly amazing! Love the Ghia nose ridge tool. So many Ghias have been pounded in that area.
