Has the case been align-bored before? Align-boring is when they recut the main bearing bores. You need to take it to a shop that knows how to check for this and how to remedy it.

I just had my case align-bored to get it ready for its new build, people do it all the time you just have to make sure the case is solid everywhere else.

^^^^ +1

Take it to a machine shop that knows VW and unless it's been bored out .060 over already they can line bore it and it will be good to go.

they re also .080 over bearings, and there was some .100 over bearings, those might be hard to comeby.
