It has come to the time where I need to change the tires on my bug, so I considered painting the rims red, I did some simple photoshopping to see what it would look like. What do you guys think?

Since you're asking for opinions...no. Personally, I'd go with plain, old silver, or maybe black.

Daisy71- I have the same year, same color bug. My car has two-tone black and white stock steelies on it just as in Mike's square picture. I think it looks fantastic. What I lack right now is the ability to upload a photo of my car. PM me if you're interested in a simple text photo of it.

On the artistic side, since red is not a natural compliment for light yellow- I don't care for it at all. They simply look like you slapped wheels from another guy's bug on there- like you care less about your care than staying stock. I also investigated two-tone yellow rims- darker inners and light outer rims for a slightly vintage feel. It's your car so certainly take my opinion for exactly its value: $0! Cool

Doesn't look too bad. Not my cup of tea but 'to each their own' and if you like...go for it!

In the weeds with smoothies and wide whites is a whole different animal. You have that classic hot rod vibe. But the OPs car was a whole different thing.
