g'day all. follow up to rear disc set up this what has been achieved
the pajero caliper bracket had less than a mm machined of the inside to allow it to slide over vw carrier hub. 1st to go on is the diff housing flange followed by caliper bracket then the backing plate & hand brake assembly then the disc & vw axle hub. the pics show the work involved.I still have to get a locating ring machined up to go between the disc & the hub.
the components
the machined caliper bracket
all the bits
outside
side on
from axle side
all for now

Think it would be fun to build a motor box that mimics a reefer.
You have been busy- looks great- can't wait to see it in action Ytube any body?? _________________ some days I get up and just sit and think. Some days I just sit.

reefer- (n0t the weed) but a refrigerator box. So when you open the fridg door there is the dip stick, power steering and coolant levels. Would make a great sight gag.
Find a nice Dometic or Coleman door for authentic look. _________________ some days I get up and just sit and think. Some days I just sit.

G'day all. Had a month out of the shed. Back yesterday here's where I'm up to. sat the tool box come console insitu to see where I need to cut it 6 inches of the back the slice the lid back the same & relocate the lock into it but pics will give you an idea of how it will look. The shifters will be in a good spot along with the handbrake lever. Set up the front spindle I will have to spread the beams looking at the angle the bottom arms sitting at. will bolt hub & tyre on today to see what happens with load on it. I have beam set up that has an adjuster in the top I may be able to use that will have check it out so here are the pics
the spindle note the angles on the arms any suggestions if the arms need to be parallel
this is the engine mount brackets need to tidy up then weld 2in x 2in angle between them & the top of the cradle the angle will bolt to top of cradle to ease removal
this is how high It sits standard so pic later with set on to see if it lift's it

G'day all couple of the front assembly I'm thinking I will have to spread the beams & flip the lower arms. So back to the shed to look into what needs to be changed as the lower arm is under load on ball joint because of the angle

G'day all. been working on the front drive & beams. I have to spread the beams to fit the longer spindles between the ball joints. looking at the 1 built by VW as a mule for the syncro they did the same as it has 2 bump stop arms coming of the bracket that bolts beam to the chassis. here are some pics to give you an idea of the amount to be spaced out with new plates to replace the pressed factory units

Great Work!
You can maybe try to swap the lower control arms (left one on the right and the right one on the left) so the head of the ball joint is on the bottom of the spindle and the nut is on top. you will need to re taper the hole for it to mount properly.

You are F-n batty, mate!
Amazing previsualization
Aren't Aussie MOT inspections & safety standards some of the toughest around?
You are not expecting any issues licensing the vehicle?
IDK, just thought I'd ask...

G'day grand poo-bah wiiliamM borninabus. thanks for dropping in
1st grand poo bah I tried flipping the lower arms but this increased the amount the beams were split by
williamM good to hear from you again. we are well away from the fires we have friends in Sydney who were in the zone but luckily their home was left unscathed unlike the homes 3 streets away If you google Nambour on the sunshine coast it's not a big town but it's a great place to live after living in Sydney
grand poo-bah welcome. yes your right about our rego laws I have to apply to the dept of transport for an approval to start the build then engage a authorised engineer who then does checks at different points in the construction up to the final approval certificate then it goes for a roadworthy certificate then to the transport for registration which depending on the person doing it I amy have to get it inspected again by them so it has to be right to get on the road but that the price you pay for this 1 off type build |

is Nambor where the little casino is on the way to the murky swamps for shrimp??? Now THATS an adventure Ya never know if its a big shrimp or a small gator. (they both taste like chicken )
I registered my Kombi in Canberra and then put the camper stuff in there. But DOT there has had 35 years to write more regs sense then. Least when your on the road- you kinda know the thing is set right. _________________ some days I get up and just sit and think. Some days I just sit.
