two friends and i are going to build a couple of trikes to sell. the other two guys have trikes and i have a off road truggy. both of their trikes are different style. one is stretched out and has heavy steel covering the rear of the trike. the other guy has a bare bones (fenders only) style. we have a ROUGH fiberglass body and frame that we got in a trade but i am not sure if that is the way to go. it might appeal to some but not others.

here is one of the guy's trike:

A ball joint front, an egg like frame for two seats, with a Japanese motorcycle minus the forks out back. low to the ground. quiet exhaust.

Bare frame, no body. The body just gets in the way when you need to work on it.

Yes to floorboards, it is nice to be able to move your feet around on a long ride.

1 or 2 passenger does not really matter, I usually set up for 1 passenger.

Long is nice, it keeps the front wheel on the ground.

Foot throttle. Your foot does not get as tired as your hand

Wide tires look good and are fine in dry weather, but they hydroplane very easily in rain. This is the trike I'm building now. I hope to have it primed this weekend, and painted next week. I'm painting it the color of the front wheel.

I like two styles that use air-cooled bug drivetrains - both with fiberglass (Gazelle kit car) bodies, both with floorboards, and both with side-by-side seats:
1F2R

2F1R (front wheel drive using Rabbit axles)

I've thought about one like your bottom suggestion for a while using a MG or gazelle kit as a base for a MOg type trike.
