so, i installed a new shifter bushing this weekend. wasn't too difficult, except being upside down in 90* heat made things interesting. also, i put clamps on all the fuel line connections. we don't need things TOO hot.
just been driving and enjoying the thing.
what do you guys think about Sea Blue (L360) as a Thing color?

well, got some time to do a little update.
black satin rattle can and some masking tape = no more papaya.
i kept the orange around the dash and windshield because this was a quick and dirty, and i simply didn't care to put that much effort into it.
with any luck, major work done come winter.

With a black top and interior, it might be a bit dark. I think it would look dynamite with a tan top or a white hardtop. The black interior then would be okay, but there might be other options. _________________ Now: 2003 New Beetle Turbo S / 1990 Single Cab Transporter / 2014 Tiguan R-Line 4motion / 2013 Tiguan S / 2002 Golf GLS TDI

I think See Blau, or Dove Blue, or any 'German' colors are cool. Understated, and not often seen on a 181. Do it. _________________ '61 rag top beetle, '73 type 181, '66 13 window deluxe |

nope, didn't abandon this thread. however, i got absolutely bagel done over the winter.
come spring, i did the clear turn lenses and H4 headlights, stenciled the body, and pulled off the rusty chrome plates behind the wheels.
needed a new battery to get her running, did a few local cruise nights, and then decided to attempt the trek from RI to the Litchfield show.
made it there and home with no issues.
so, maybe i fix it up eventually, but it'll just be driven unless circumstances say otherwise. |

Obligatory 2015 post. Listed it for sale, hoping to get some nibbles. Who knows what will happen. |

figured I'd close out this thread if anyone was following it. Thing is sold. got less than I wanted, but about broke even with what I had into it. It seemed to go to a good home, tho. I guess that's all that matters. I had my fun and passed the torch.
anyway, see you around, maybe. |
