Thank you Steve, Merry Christmas to you and yours. I am happy that you and other Californians are finally getting rain/snowfall.
I can only find cast dished Mahle pistons so far. (this build is an upright 1.6L) The heads I will run do not have the ledge in the combustion chamber so I wanna use dished pistons. I have them in my driver now and have clicked off over 70k. I think the pistons in service now are not Mahle, I have just been blessed to go this distance. I have very little oil burning presently and the engine holds 21 inches of vacuum at idle.
The new pistons will be installed in the engine for my other Westy, one that will be driven on an epic, whirlwind solo circumnavigation of the U S of A when I retire in the fall of 2016, God willin'.
Those forged pistons are sure enough high dollar! Since I run a basically stock engine I will probably go with the cast ones.
