Has anyone tried these shocks on their stock splits?
Any reviews on them?
These are available at my local spares shop.
Based on ratwell:
http://www.ratwell.com/technical/Koni.html
They are for split front/rear. |

I have a rebuilt (I rebuilt them) set on my bus. They are much nicer than KYBs and seemed to make my bus stop sooner and flatter rather than nose diving. I've also cornered them pretty hard and never had a "here we go" feeling. |

i have always used the konis up front and the Bilstein gas shocks in the back.
And, yes, they are awesome, and comfy. quite possibly the most signifact ride improvement you can just "bolt on"
i can go back and forth between bias ply and radials, but i would never run stock shocks as long as the koni's and bilsteins are available _________________ regards

Not so much of a question as an observation...
I ran Koni's on my last IRS Beetle and absolutely loved them. Vowed to use nothing else on an ACVW. So I was searching on Koni's website just now and I see that they use the same shock for link pin (1349) and swing (1350) T1's, T2's and T3's. I'm surprised to see this as there is obviously a huge weight and spring difference (and I would assume compressed and extended length as well?) between a type one and type two... _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |

eshocks.com has Koni's and Bilsteins.
I prefer the Bilsteins (usually in stock, whereas the Koni's are not, and they are not listed bus specific). _________________ "There is only one sin; disconnection from self." |

Cheapest Koni's I found were on eBay, $91 each shipped. Worth every penny. _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |

Unbelievably I found my Koni/Bilsteins thru Summit. The Bilsteins they had in stock under a different PN than I was looking for but it cross-refs to the new # they have, and the Konis drop-shipped from the factory. |

Those of you Koni users, are you running the red Special D's? _________________ "Saying what we think gives us a wider conversational range than saying what we know."

Not sure what a special D is but they are red in color. _________________ Special Thanks to:

I have a question for those running the Koni's up front on stock suspension. I recently decided to upgrade my shocks to Koni's. Upon installing the front shocks I noticed that the top portion of the shock hits the mounting plate making it impossible to bolt it down. See below
Anyone ever experience this? And if so what was your fix?
To give clearance I added a 7mm shim in between shock and mounting plate and used longer bolts.

The shocks I bought recently came with similar spacers, they were not Koni shocks. |
These spacers were out of another set of shocks. Not Koni's! You would think at $104 a shock it would come with shims. _________________ Special Thanks to:
