Congrats! That has to be a great feeling to show and win. Your wagon definitely kicks-ass! |
It really did because the VW haters were in full force. |

That had to be a deep thorn in their side and a long drive home. _________________ MonT3

WOW... both my kids and myself all saw the pic at the same time.. My oldest said, "well, thats what our squareback should look like"
Would love to see some more pictures of this. Amazing detail, the bumper is so clean on the front of it. What size engine are you running. |

I was behind you driving into the Vintage Meet in Shoreline last year (I think). Your photos do NOT do your car justice; it really must be seen in person to see all the custom work. I can easily see why it you won. Congrats for showing the ddeep pocketed hotrodders the way to get it done. _________________ Regards,

WOWWOWOW... My 15 year old(who loved our square on bags), up until he saw the dash. Now mine has lost it's cool factor.
How hard was that install and fab for the dash?
I got a huge shop, time, and need something to do this summer with my boys. |

Yeah, those hotrod wagon guys were probably shamed when they saw the amount of work and love placed into your wagon. Definitely had their tails tucked. Far more than custom bumper and grill. You have a thread on this build? Would like to read it. Thanks for sharing more pics. _________________ MonT3

You know, it's not all that bad! It will take some time and prepping for sure but not that difficult. One of the guys over on VR John used a 49 dash in his then changed his mind and when a different direction. To make it as easy a possible I would suggest a fab shell if you can find a car real cheap, plus it keeps the car drivable and then most updates can be done over the weekend. If you lived close I would lone you mine.
removing 6" made it perfect
Here is what John is doing the Ford is a 49 the rambler dash I'm not sure about.

i might need to make a trek to Washington from the State south of there. Hell I need to go up to Boo-koo-z's house and go type 3 shopping. Also at the local junk yard, there is about 70 30-50 sedans. All have dash's. Now I just need to measure my dash, and go to the junk yard with the tape measure.
I already sent my son the link over on volksrods. I think your car might have changed his mind, he has wanted a split window bus since 3. Now he saw yours, and really got into type 3's like dad. |

The last time I saw John's in person, it still had the Ford dash in it. But that was a few years ago, and he was still busy working on his cabin. In talking with him, he got the ford dash for next to nothing, but still had to cut it down to fit in a type 3. I think it would have looked great in there, but then he changed his mind and went with the rambler dash. I guess he needed more of a challenge.
Just something to keep in mind, that you might have to narrow up your dash of choice. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Paul,
It is an automatic and I moved all the controls off the floor its a coulmn shift and the heat controls are on the ford dash. The thing below the dash is a late 40's heater that I used for my gauages and since this photo hs been removed.
