I was wondering if I could connect my iPod to the stock single speaker next to the speedometer in my bug. I want to keep the simple dash look without a radio. Not sure if the I pod would supply enough power to the speaker. |

The iPod will not "drive" the single speaker in the dash of your car. It's output needs to be greatly amplified and there are a number of different avenues you can take to achieve that.
I'm sure if you use the search feature on here you can get some direction. _________________ "A camel is a horse designed by a Committee" |

Blaupunkt "Melbourne" stereo has an aux in jack and sells for less than a hundred bucks on Amazon. Plays SD cards and flash drives, too. No moving parts, no CD drive, no tapedeck.
If your bug is still 6V you can get a USB-powered iPod amplifier. Wire it right in to the fusebox, they're a nominal 5V. |

I used a small amp in the trunk with an 1/8 in wire hidden in the ash tray. Modern convenience with stock look.
Later I added a switch under the dash so I could switch between my Sapphire V radio and mp3 player. All in all it's very inconspicuous. _________________ Daniel

How do you hook up the wires to run only ONE speaker? Do you "bridge" the two channels or just run one channel? _________________ 1963 Karmann Ghia |

The unit runs on one channel. You totally bypass the radio. It's not even used. The unit has a master volume attatched to the box. It's simply a positve and negative type set up with either one or two speaker set up. I bought the single speaker set up. They sell both types. _________________ "When it rains...
